HawkLink Helps to Provide Scholarship
Post Published On:For graduate student Jamir Stewart, HawkLink is more than a student portal where he can access his student account, it is a financial resource for ways he can pay for some of his college expenses.
Stewart was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Sideline Interactive, a supplier of scorers tables, indoor video displays, digital scoreboards, and outdoor video boards for gymnasiums and outdoor athletic fields.
“I am really excited about the scholarship, and I can’t thank Sideline Interactive enough,” Stewart said. “The money will go towards tuition for my summer semester.”
Stewart is pursuing a master’s degree in counseling with a specialty in clinical rehabilitation. He said he became aware of the Scorers Table Scholarship Award that Sideline Interactive provides through HawkLink.
“There is a scholarship link where you can access a database that Thomas University provides,” he said. “I went on there, and I applied for like 20 scholarships just through the HawkLink site.”
Stewart, who is also a former TU soccer player, was selected from over 400 Sideline Interactive scholarship applicants.
“Applicants for our scholarship are required to submit an essay on how participating in sports has contributed to their personal growth,” Dung Chau, founder and CEO of Sideline Interactive, said. “We felt that Jamir’s essay best captured that spirit. In his essay, he described how he overcame personal obstacles to compete in sports and how those lessons transferred into all areas of his life. We were very impressed with how he used sports as much more than a game.”
Sideline Interactive awards a $1,000 scholarship to a current college student annually through its Scorers Table program, which is funded by the sales of its scorers tables.
