The Thomas University Center for Professional Learning offers certification training and professional development opportunities in a flexible learning environment. Our on-demand certification training is specifically designed for busy, working professionals who wish to build skills to advance their careers.  Classes are offered in a variety of formats including virtual classroom, online mentored, and online self-paced. On-ground training is available for selected training in groups of 10 or more.

Certification training programs are aligned with industry-specific best practice, Department of Defense Directive 8570 and military COOL programs for each respective branch of the armed services.

Amazon Web Services

AWS Technical Essentials.

In this online training course, students will be introduced to Amazon Web Services (AWS) products, services and common solutions. Students will be provided with fundamentals to become more proficient in identifying AWS services so that they can make well-informed decisions about IT solutions based on their business requirements.

AWS System Operations. In this online training course, students will be taught how to create automatable and repeatable deployments of networks and systems on the AWS platform. AWS System Operations is a course for System Administrators and Developer Operations personnel and will cover the specific AWS features and tools related to configuration and deployment, as well as common techniques used throughout the industry for configuring and deploying systems. This course can be used in order to prepare for the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate exam.

AWS Architect Associate. In this online training course, students will be taught the fundamental skills to architect your IT solutions on AWS. AWS Architect Associate is a course for System Engineers and System Developers and will cover how to optimize the AWS Cloud by understanding AWS services and how they fit into cloud-based solutions. This course can be used in order to prepare for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate exam.

AWS Developer Associate. In this online training course, students will learn how to use the AWS SDK to develop secure and scalable cloud applications. We will explore how to interact with AWS using code and discuss key concepts, best practices and troubleshooting tips. This course can be used in order to prepare for the AWS Certified Developer – Associate exam.

This instructor-led, online training course will prepare you for the CompTIA Cloud+ certification, an international, vendor-neutral certification that covers the knowledge and best practices required for students working in cloud computing environments, what they must understand and how to deliver cloud infrastructure.

Google Cloud Certified Associate Cloud Engineer

This online instructor-led training course introduces students to the comprehensive and flexible infrastructure and platform services provided by Google Cloud Platform. This course also covers deploying practical solutions, including securely interconnecting networks, customer-supplied encryption keys, security and access management, quotas and billing, and resource monitoring.

AZ-100: Microsoft Azure Infrastructure and Deployment

In this online training course, students will learn to manage their Azure subscriptions, including access, policies, and compliance, as well as how to track and estimate service usage and related costs. Students will learn how cloud resources are managed in Azure through user and group accounts, how to grant appropriate access to Azure AD users, groups and services through role-based access control (RBAC). Students will also discover the core monitoring tools and capabilities provided by Azure, including Azure Alerts and Activity Log.

AZ-103: Microsoft Azure Administrator

In this online training course, students will learn to manage Azure subscriptions and resources, implement and manage storage, deploy and manage virtual machines (VMs), configure and manage virtual networks, and manage identities. Cisco CCENT R&S: ICND1 v3

The ICND1: Cisco CCENT R&S v3 course is the first step into Cisco networking. The goal of this online training course is to provide students with the fundamental skills needed to successfully install, operate, configure, and maintain Cisco routers and switches. Students who have attended the ICND1 online training course will gain competency with Cisco IOS-based devices and ISR-capable routers. Crucial elements of this course include the coverage of IPv4 subnetting, IPv6, ACLs, VLANs, as well as static and dynamic routing which are all needed for success at all levels of Cisco certification.

This online training course is preparation for the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) exam. Students pursuing their CCNA Routing and Switching certification should attend both ICND1 and ICND2 online training courses.

Cisco CCNA R&S: ICND2 v3

The Cisco CCNA R&S: ICND2 v3 course is the second half of the CCNA Routing & Switching curriculum associated with the CCNA Routing and Switching certification. The goal of this online training course is to provide students with the key skills needed to successfully install, configure, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise network.

The ICND2 v3 course focuses on redundant topologies, troubleshooting common networking issues, configuring EIGRP and multiarea OSPF in both IPv4 and IPv6, understanding WAN technologies, and becoming familiar with device management and Cisco licensing. This online training course provides preparation for the ICND2 exam and CCNA composite exam. Cisco CCNP R&S ROUTE:

ROUTE online training course will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to plan, implement, and monitor a scalable routed network. Students will also learn how to redistribute routes, implement path control, and secure Cisco routers.

SWITCH online training course provides knowledge and skills needed to create an efficient and expandable enterprise network. Cisco CCNP R&S: TSHOOT

In the Cisco CCNP R&S: TSHOOT course students will learn and practice techniques to monitor and troubleshoot routed and switched networks through extensive hands-on lab exercises. Troubleshooting methods, approaches, procedures, and tools are explored. A series of different organizations are introduced for each a set of troubleshooting scenarios that are presented. Students will attempt to solve as many of the troubleshooting tickets as they can; the debrief includes review information that will help them further understand the specific issues raised in the scenarios.

Cisco CCNA Security: IINS v3.0

The Cisco CCNA Security: IINS online training course focuses on the design, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive security policy, using Cisco IOS security features and technologies as examples. The online training course covers security controls of Cisco IOS devices as well as a functional introduction to the Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA). This course allows learners to perform basic tasks to secure a small branch office network using Cisco IOS security features available through web-based GUIs (Cisco Configuration Professional) and the CLI on Cisco routers, switches, and ASAs.

Cisco CCNP Security: SIMOS

Cisco CCNP Security: SIMOS is an online training course that is part of the curriculum path leading to the Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP Security) certification. This course is designed to prepare network security engineers with the knowledge and skills they need to protect data traversing a public or shared infrastructure such as the Internet by implementing and maintaining Cisco VPN solutions. Students will gain hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting remote access and site-to-site VPN solutions, using Cisco ASA adaptive security appliances and Cisco IOS routers.

Cisco CCNP Security: SENSS is an online training course that is part of the curriculum path leading to the Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP Security) certification. Additionally, it is designed to prepare security engineers with the knowledge and hands-on experience to prepare them to configure Cisco perimeter edge security solutions utilizing Cisco Switches, Cisco Routers and Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Firewalls.

The goal of this online training course is to provide students with foundational knowledge and the capabilities to implement and managed security on Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco Routers with the firewall feature set, and Cisco Switches. Cisco CCNP Security: SITCS v1.5 is an online training course, which is part of the curriculum path leading to the Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP Security) certification. Cisco CCNA Collaboration: CICD

The Cisco CCNA Collaboration: CICD online training course focuses on providing the skills and knowledge necessary to implement Cisco Unified Communications (UC) solutions. It covers administration of end-user interfaces, telephony and mobility features, and Cisco UC solutions maintenance. A new type of lab called a Discovery lab is introduced.

Discovery labs are a learning environment, embedded in the lessons, that enables students to learn about principles and technology in a more interactive, hands-on way. The course also contains Challenge labs. Challenge labs are labs where students test their knowledge gained through a lesson or multiple lessons.

This course will help students prepare for the CCNA Collaboration Certification.

Contracting courses are available online or on-ground in groups of 10 or more.  Online courses are self-paced with regular meetings with a facilitator to provide additional instruction and guidance.

Workshops

  • Federal Contracting Basics is a 1-2 hour seminar on the federal government contract process.  The phases for the contracting process, advertising requirements and contractor requirements are reviewed.
  • Basic Contracting Overview.  This 2-day training provides participants with information on the contracting life cycle, comparisons between chimerical and federal contracting, types of contracts and more.

+Cyber Security

Thomas University offers a variety of cyber security training opportunities.  Courses are available virtual online, self-paced and on-ground in groups of 10 or more.

Managing and Conducting an Effective Vulnerability Assessment

Vulnerability assessment is a critical security practice that helps identify and classify the security holes in a computer or network infrastructure. Enabling your network or security team to conduct regular, effective vulnerability assessments will allow your organization to evaluate the effectiveness of their existing controls and safeguards, reducing unnecessary spend and maintaining compliance with audit and regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA and PCI.

In this course, students will begin by learning how the Vulnerability Assessment team functions together to perform a good assessment. Students will learn how to develop a project plan, including scoping the most important requirements of the assessment and choosing the methodologies that will be used to test. When a student completes this online training course they will have the knowledge required to manage and conduct a network vulnerability assessment as part of the larger VA team.

This course is valid for continuing education units toward CISSP re-certification.

Network Analysis with Wireshark

This online instructor led training course provides the knowledge to install, capture, and analyze network traffic with Wireshark.

In this course students will learn how to properly capture and analyze their network traffic, troubleshoot their network and security issues, familiarize themselves with network characteristics, develop network baselines, and learn the ins and outs of network protocols.

Ethical Hacking

Our Ethical Hacking online training course will immerse students into an interactive environment where they will be shown how to scan, test, hack and secure their own systems. Students will gain an understanding of how to leverage a multitude of tools at the disposal of today’s hackers. Ethical hackers use many of the same tools as malicious hackers including, footprinting, sniffing, trojans, and more! When a student completes this online training course they will have knowledge and experience working as penetration testers on their organization’s Red Team.

Penetration Testing Linux

In this online, instructor led training course students will get a hands-on feel for penetration testing. The instructor goes through many of the tools available through demonstrations allowing you to scan multiple port numbers and protocols.
