orientation at Thomas University

Beginning Fall 2020, all new undergraduate and graduate students attending online or campus-based classes are required to complete Orientation.  A Registration ‘hold’ will be placed on your account until orientation is completed.

Due to COVID-19, our on-ground orientation for Fall 2020 has been cancelled. A virtual program has been created.  See below for details.

The new student borientation (NSO) program is designed to provide important information in a welcoming setting, either from the comfort of your home or office, or here on campus.

NSO provides vital information regarding the many important student features one gains as they become a Night Hawk. Some highlighted features are:

  • using the Student Portal (Hawklink) including student account and financial aid information,
  • understanding Canvas, the online learning site that accompany all courses at TU,
  • review of the numerous Library resources available to Night Hawks on campus or as a distance student,
  • orientation to the TU Honor Code and our expectations for academic integrity,
  • academic support services (ARC@TU Library),
  • opportunities for student involvement here at TU.

How to Access the Virtual Orientation

  • Select the appropriate link below.
  • You will be redirected to Canvas in order to enroll in the New Student Orientation Course.  You will need to enroll in the course.
  • To log into Canvas, use the same username and password created for Hawklink
  • After course completion, fill out the survey
  • It’s important that you do not drop the course as you will not get credit for completing the class.

Campus-based Students

Due to COVID-19, our on-ground NSO for Fall 2020 has been cancelled.

The Campus-based NSO is required for all undergraduate students, new to TU, taking one or more classes on TU’s Thomasville, GA campus and beginning classes in the Fall semester. This includes transfer students. You must pre-register to attend the Campus-Based NSO. To make sure all attendees get the most out of this experience, there are two different tracks (Student Track and Parent/Guest Track). The Campus-Based NSO is free for new students and $10 per guest. The guest fee is non-refundable and aids in the costs of student and guest orientation publications and materials, breakfast and lunch during the program, and program supplies and resources.

Online and Graduate Students

New students attending online or beginning campus-based classes spring or summer semesters are required to complete the Online Orientation.

  • Dual Enrollment high school students do NOT need to attend the on-ground orientation.

If you need additional information, or for more details, please feel free to contact the Office of Student Life at: 229-226-1621 ext. 1077.
