Job Description: Resident Director

Job Summary: This position reports to the Director of Housing or designee. This position oversees the daily operations of TU Housing within designated residential communities to ensure a clean, safe, and engaging residential experience for the University’s students and to promote academic, social, and personal growth. The Resident Director must have the ability to work effectively with Resident Assistants (RAs) and other relevant Housing personnel, providing them guidance and support when needed. The Resident Director must be able to create student-oriented programming and assist Resident Assistance in developing and implementing such programming. Residence Directors live in one of the University’s residence halls, and housing and a stipend are included in the compensation package.

Responsibilities/Duties

Include but are not limited to the following:

· Oversees assigned RA staff, including training, professional development, support, and evaluation.

· Creates and maintains RA duty rosters to ensure that assigned residence halls are appropriately covered.

· Assists RAs in developing appropriate social and educational programming for their residents.

· Oversees functions of desk staff, where appropriate.

· Ensures that university policies and housing procedures are consistently and effectively enforced.

· Ensures that health and safety inspections are carried out and that staff and residents are held accountable for health/safety policies and procedures.

· Monitors the conditions of the housing facilities, ensuring security, working facilities, and adequate amenities and places all work orders.

· Handles crisis/conduct issues in accordance with university policy.

· Responds immediately to emergencies.

· Oversees the opening and closing of the residence halls, including holiday operations.

· Communicates effectively with the Dean of Students, Director of Housing, Director of Facilities, and all other relevant TU staff.

· Maintains relevant records and submits required reports in an accurate and timely manner.

· Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent highly recommended. Will consider candidates with pending degrees.

· Experience with student life in higher education, residential life experience preferred.

· Demonstrate strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Technology proficiency with Microsoft and/or Google suites.

Requirements:

· Must live in one of the University’s residence halls or overflow housing facilities.

· Evening and weekend work required.

· Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.

Compensation:

· Housing for RD and family

· $1000/month stipend
