Football Assistant Coaches
As an innovation in veteran transition programming, Thomas University is seeking applicants for the following positions:
- Assistant Coach – Offensive Coordinator;
- Assistant Coach – Defensive Coordinator;
- Assistant Coach – Offensive Line;
- Assistant Coach – Defensive Line;
- Assistant Coach – Offense;
- Assistant Coach – Defense.
These are exempt positions and will begin June 2, 2022. Located in Thomasville, GA, the University is a member of the NAIA Sun Conference and located approximately 35 miles from Tallahassee, FL.
All assistant football coaches at Thomas University, are overseen by the Athletic Director and will report to the Head Football Coach. Assistant coaches are responsible for the duties normally associated with an NAIA football program including: prospect evaluation, recruiting, training, coaching, competing successfully, student academic achievement, student conduct and welfare, compliance with the Governing Athletics Rules and University Rules, scheduling assistance, promotions, public relations, football camps, development activities, and the overall effective performance of the Program’s athletes. As the football program includes a focus on transition services for military veterans all coaches must also maintain robust working relationships with the departments of Clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling, Career Services, and the Vice President for Military and Corporate Relations.
Requirements
These are inaugural positions and they require engagement with a broad array of stakeholders. Applicants should possess:
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written,
- Experience with and an excellent working knowledge of football training techniques appropriate for intercollegiate student athletes.
- General knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PC computers.
- Flexible schedule in order to work early morning hours, weekends and or nights is required.
- Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience working with veterans.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree is required/ Master’s preferred.
Experience
- Experience within a university football setting required, preferred at the Division 1 level
- Experience as an NCO or Commissioned Officer preferred and/or working in a military service academy preferred.
- Experience working with pre-service, military cadet programs or veterans preferred.
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience.
