Director of Development
Job Summary
Develop and maintain relationships with donors and potential donors and encourage their continued support. Develop and manage a comprehensive program of alumni activities and events to retain positive relationships with alumni to encourage their financial support. Oversee special events for donor cultivation and fundraising. Manage Athletic Giving Campaigns.
Essential Functions
- Manages the Institutional Advancement stewardship and gift giving policies.
- Identify, cultivate and solicit prospects (donors) including individuals, corporations and foundations for Annual Gifts.
- Organizes cultivation/special events (showcase events, luncheons, galas, etc.) for the Advancement
Office. - Assist in the development and production of fundraising materials.
- Develop and implement alumni strategy to increase alumni participation in annual giving.
- Manage and direct the activities of the Alumni Association such as meetings, minutes, and fundraisers as well as the ensure alumni records are up to date in the data base.
- Organize homecomings, and other alumni related activities and special events with the objective to of increasing alumni participation.
- Assist Alumni Board of Governors (ABOG) with alumni related material for the Alumni Newsletter and provide editorial assistance.
- Assist with athletic special events such as half-time recognitions and athletic receptions.
- Provide timely, written reports regarding the outcome of cultivation and solicitation activities.
- Supports all functions within the Advancement Office.
- Performs other appropriate duties as designated and assigned by the Associate Vice President for
Institutional Advancement.
Other Qualifications- Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to donors.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Five or more years in fund raising.
- Personal commitment to the mission of Thomas University.
- Maintain a professional manner while handling multiple projects.
- Professional experience in all aspects of development.
- Available for travel on some occasions.
- Ability to work weekends and some holidays.
- Strong personal skills in a social setting.
- Knowledge of computer-based software (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets,
Power point, and Publisher.
