Student Support Center

Thomas University believes that student success is more than just grades. The Student Support Center’s services are provided for students both in-person and virtually through the Microsoft Teams platform.

The Center provides services to all TU students, both on-campus and online.

+Career Center

The Career Center helps students find employment that matches their career objectives and professional aspirations. All Career Center appointments are held virtually in the privacy of the coach’s Teams video platform. The Career Center staff includes the Director and several graduate interns from the TU Counseling program. They’re trained in the skills needed to help students achieve their career goals.

  • Perform interest and personality assessments

All appointments with career coaches happen through the Handshake Career Center platform.

All students—freshmen to graduate, online or on campus—are encouraged to join now. Starting Spring Semester 2026, all Career Center video appointments will be made and hosted through Handshake.

+Counseling Services

Thomas University provides three free and confidential counseling services to its students: an on-campus counseling center, a Student Assistance Program (SAP) offered to ALL students through Archbold Hospital, and Flexcare Behavioral Health for our on-campus students.

On-campus Office

The Student Counseling Center’s office is located in the Campus Center.  The Counseling Center provides on-campus TU students with a private space to discuss whatever is on their minds. Students can ask for a Microsoft Teams video appointment for confidential one-on-one discussions. The Counseling Center staff includes interns from the Social Work and Counseling masters programs. 

The Student Counseling Center sponsors The Hangout space in room 103 in the Library/Rust Science Building. Students are welcome to use this space to relax and enjoy food and snacks.

The Counseling Center sponsors workshops and webinars on a range of topics and concerns. The center’s staff also makes classroom visits about counseling services and subjects ranging from understanding university resources to stress management, mindfulness, addiction education. and overall student wellbeing.

Archbold Student Assistance Program

TU partners with Archbold Hospital (local hospital less than one mile from campus) to provide free counseling services on an as needed basis for ALL students through the Student Assistance Program. This program provides students with free and confidential counseling services either in-person or online through the hospital’s telehealth unit. The services are provided to students free of charge and are used on a confidential and voluntary basis.

The Student Assistance Program provides the following services:

  • Confidential counseling services
  • Confidential assessment services
  • Confidential referral services
  • Problem resolution sessions
  • Addiction counseling services

Services are also provided for students whose lives have been affected by their own or someone else’s use of alcohol or other drugs.

FlexCare Behavioral Health

The FlexCare telehealth program provides behavioral health services free of charge to TU students who are enrolled in at least one on-campus class. Services include:

  • Unlimited $0 consult fee scheduled telephonic or video consults with Master’s Level Counselors for short-term counseling issues
  • Three (3) $0 consult fee scheduled telephonic or video consults with a Licensed Psychologist per student per year
  • Discounted scheduled telephonic or video consults with Licensed Psychiatrists, who can prescribe medication when deemed necessary

If students have any questions or concerns about the Archbold SAP or the FlexCare Behavioral Health, they can reach out to the Student Counseling Center at studentcounselingcenter@thomasu.edu. Student wellbeing is our top priority.

If students are in crisis or need immediate help, they are asked to please call 911 or the Suicide Prevention Hotline at 988.

+Disability Services

Disability Services acts as Thomas University’s entry-point into advocacy for all students with disabilities and provides students with tools to help them succeed in both online and classroom classes.

In preparation for academic accommodations, students should provide documentation from a medical doctor, a psychologist, or a licensed or certified specialist recognized as appropriate to treat their specific disability.

Students with disabilities are responsible for requesting academic accommodations and updating their class information every semester.

The federal law, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is enforced at Thomas University. The university grants course substitutions based upon specific student disabilities. Any substitution previously granted a student transferring to Thomas University from an accredited college will be recognized by the university with documentation. The university campus is handicap-accessible and specific parking is available.
