Social Media/Marketing Assistant
SUPERVISOR: Director of Marketing and Communications
HOURS: 10-20 per week
JOB SUMMARY
Thomas University’s Department of Marketing and Communications is seeking a creative, motivated, and detail-oriented Social Media Intern to support the university’s digital presence. This role offers hands-on experience in content creation, brand storytelling, and digital strategy while helping to engage and grow the university’s online community across multiple platforms. The Social Media Intern also attends and photographs university events for social media.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist in planning, creating, and scheduling engaging content for university social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.)
- Monitor social media trends and suggest creative ways to enhance engagement and reach
- Capture and edit photos and videos from campus events and student life
- Write compelling captions and copy that align with the university’s voice and brand
- Track analytics and prepare performance reports to inform strategy
- Collaborate with departments, student organizations, and university leadership to highlight campus stories
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute fresh ideas to campaigns and initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS
- Current TU student
- Creative thinker with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Interest in marketing, communications, journalism, photography, graphic design, or related field
