Resident Director
Job Summary:This position reports directly to the Dean of Students. This position oversees the daily operations of the Resident Assistants (RAs) as it relates to university housing and its operations. This position is a ten-month appointment. The director must have the ability to work efficiently with the RAs and provide them guidance when needed. This position requires 24/7 vigilance.
Responsibilities/Duties
Include but are not limited to the following:
- this is a live-in position, which requires the RD to live in one of the university dorms
- trains, supports, and supervises all Resident Assistants in the university residence hall
- ensures that university policies and housing procedures are consistently enforced
- ensures compliance with local, State, and Federal regulations and laws
- monitors the conditions of the housing facilities, ensuring security, working facilities, and adequate amenities and reports issues to the Dean of Students
- communicates student concerns to the Dean of Students
- handles crisis/conduct issues in accordance with university policy
- responds immediately to emergencies beyond the scope and ability of the RAs
- responsible for damage assessment
- performs special projects or duties as assigned
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree highly recommended
- Experience with student life in higher education
- Demonstrate organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills technology proficiency
