Learning Support Instructor (English and Math)
DESCRIPTION:
Thomas University, an independent, not-for-profit, institution of higher education with undergraduate and graduate programs in Thomasville, Georgia, seeks applicants for Learning Support Instructors in English and Math. Positions are available on an as needed basis for on-campus instruction.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree, with earned credits in the subject required.
- Practical employment experience is preferred.
- Previous teaching experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good judgment in making decisions concurrent with College policy.
- Ability to work cooperatively with all constituents.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Assist in the development and delivery of subject area content for students.
- Be available to work 1 to 4 hours per week in the late afternoons, early evenings and/or on Friday mornings.
- Must complete required elements of the New Faculty Orientation.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Math and English instructors work in Learning Support and provide one-on-one and study group support to students, helping them develop subject area knowledge. Instructors support students’ academic achievement by reviewing and clarifying classroom instruction and work closely with the Director of Learning Support and/or subject matter experts to develop and deliver subject area workshops in a variety of delivery modes.
