Welcome Week Filled with Prizes and Activities for Students
Post Published On:Thomas University students celebrated Welcome Week by participating in different activities, hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB).
The week-long event included t-shirt giveaways, creamy, delicious ice bars, breakfast, prizes, and a pool party.
About 135 t-shirts were given to students when they stopped by the library on Monday. The t-shirts were various colors including white, blue, and black with the Thomas University logo and different designs.
On Tuesday, students were able to cool down in the sizzling heat with Helados Mexico ice cream bars. There were different flavors such as strawberry, mango, and pina colada.
Students started their Wednesday morning with an array of choices for breakfast, including cereals, pop tarts, apples, bananas, and muffins, among other things.
Freshman Wyatt Waddell said he was happy about the items he received.
“Free t-shirts. Free food, you can’t beat that,” he said. “It is really nice.”
Thursday was Punch A’ Prize Day. Students punched their fingers in a cup that was covered by a napkin to retrieve a slip of letter that revealed the prizes they won. The prizes included drawstring bags, key chains, water bottles, game cards, and gift cards for Chick-fil-A, Wendy’s, Dairy Queen, Starbucks, Whataburger, Zaxby’s, and McDonald’s.
Welcome Week culminated with a pool party on Friday evening. Students enjoyed the cool waters of two swimming pools at the Butler-Mason YMCA in Thomasville. They swam, dived, slid down a spiral slide, and played games in the pool.
“I am just so glad that I made the decision to come to Thomas University,” junior Kristen Steller said. “Not only because of the activities, but my professors have been welcoming also.”
