TU Named 2023 Armed Forces Merit Award Finalist
Post Published On:Thomas University’s Military Transition Football Program has been named a finalist for the 2023 Armed Forces Merit Award by the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl.
Thomas University is among the “Elite 11” finalists for the award, which is presented by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). The award honors an individual and/or a group with a military background and/or involvement that has an impact within the realm of college football.
The winner will be announced on November 9 during the “live” mid-day SportsCenter show on ESPN. The recipient of the award will be determined by a selection committee consisting of seven FWAA members and two representatives from the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl.
“To be considered for such a prestigious award speaks magnitudes about how far our military-related programs have come,” Stephen Ferguson, Vice President for Military and Corporate Relations, said. “Our objective of providing quality and innovative programming to the nation’s warfighter has resonated across our region, the defense community, and now by the Football Writers Association of America.”
Thomas University Military Transition Football Program is the nation’s first purpose-built initiative to support the entire life cycle of individuals affiliated with the military. The military transition football team,opened its inaugural season in September.
