RN-BSN, nursing blood draw

RN-BSN/RN-MSN

The Thomas University RN-BSN nursing program is designed to allow Registered Nurses to complete the requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing while maintaining an active nursing practice.  The RN-BSN program is offered online.

Why earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree? In 2010, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) issued The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health (Institute of Medicine, 2010a).  In that publication, the IOM recommended that 80 percent of all nurses have their BSN by 2020 in order to meet the complexity of today’s health care environment.  Download the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Education-Impact-Fact-Sheet for more details!

Hospitals hoping to earn Magnet status must provide plans to increase their BSN workforce to 80% by 2020.  Many large national organizations have already established policy requiring RNs to have a BSN to be considered for promotion or even initial employment!

The expected employment growth rate for nurses is higher than average (12%) through 2028 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.  Nurses with a BSN will have a wider variety of opportunities available to them.

Division Chair:  Dr. Kim Cribb 229-226-1621 ext 1045

“Thank you for a wonderful first semester on my journey to the BSN degree. It was a great experience. I would definitely recommend the program to others.”
