Pearce named new Athletic Director at Thomas University
Post Published On:Thomas University officials announced today that Rick Pearce will be the university’s new Athletic Director.
“Thomas University is pleased to have Rick on board as our new Athletic Director,” said Dr. Bob Bohman, Vice President for Student Life. “He brings with him a wealth of operational and organizational experience, which will be an asset to the university athletic program. The team is looking forward and excited to work with Rick in moving our athletic program forward.”
Pearce joined TU in January 2018 as head coach of the Night Hawks Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams. He also served as the golf professional at Glen Arven Country Club for the past five years. Pearce has 27 years of experience in coaching, team building and tournament operations.
“I have always admired Athletic Directors and what they do for athletics and the schools,” Pearce said. “I am excited to take on the challenge. To be able to work with these great student athletes and coaches will be an honor.”
A native of Keene, New Hampshire, Pearce was a three-year letter winner as a pitcher for the Keene State baseball team while earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education. In 2015, he was inducted into the college’s athletics hall of fame.
Pearce previously served as the golf professional at Royal Poinciana Golf Club, Hole In The Wall Golf Club and Collier’s Reserve Country Club, all in Naples, Florida. He is a USGA, Class A PGA Golf professional and is a certified Titleist and Ping club fitter.
As the new Athletic Director, Pearce will work with all of TU’s student athletes.
“I believe the strengths of the athletes and the athletic program are the people themselves and the family atmosphere,” Pearce said. “Thomas University has a lot of international students. When they leave home, we become their second family, which helps them become more comfortable. This family atmosphere makes Thomas University a very special place. I love the atmosphere and all the staff and students that make up Thomas University.”
Pearce and his wife, Heather, are parents to Trey, 22, a graduate student at LaGrange College, and Broadrick, 19, a sophomore at Florida State University.
