Hagood named 2021 Thomas University Professor of the Year

During its undergraduate Commencement ceremony held Saturday morning, May 8, one Thomas University faculty member received the honor of being named the 2021 Professor of the Year.

That honor went to Dr. Susan Hagood of Thomasville, Georgia, Professor/Coordinator of Assessment & Accreditation and Initial Teaching Program Director in the Division of Education.

Hagood joined TU in 2013. In addition to receiving high praise from both her students and colleagues, since her arrival Hagood has worked in collaboration with stakeholders in the Division of Education and its partner school districts to develop an assessment system that effectively collects, analyzes and monitors program data, enabling the education preparation programs to make the data-driven decisions requires for improving all aspects of teacher training.

Hagood’s efforts toward developing assessment systems and their use is recognized across the state of Georgia. Indeed, she has served as an officer in the Georgia Assessment Directors Organization, the Georgia Association of Independent Colleges of Teacher Education, and she has served on numerous state-wide committees organized by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
