Education Affiliate Faculty

DESCRIPTION: 

Thomas University an independent, not-for-profit, institution of higher education with undergraduate and graduate programs in Thomasville, Georgia seeks applicants for the position of Affiliate Assistant Professor to teach online synchronous courses in the undergraduate and graduate Education programs beginning Fall Semester 2020. The position requires synchronous online instruction with courses offered in the evenings and on Saturday. The successful candidate will teach courses that are a part of the initial teacher preparation program as well as advanced coursework for certified teachers in Georgia. 

Thomas University affiliate faculty members are expected to make an outstanding contribution to teaching and learning. In contrast to other full-time faculty, the position does not require participation in governance or committees and holds no expectation for advising of students. Successful candidate will be eligible for benefits. 

This is a nine-month position, with possible summer employment. 

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS: 

· Minimum of an master’s degree or higher in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Leadership, Educational Leadership, or a related Georgia certification field; doctoral degree preferred 

· K-12 teaching or administrative experienced required 

· College/university teaching experience preferred 

· Familiarity with electronic course development and online synchronous instruction preferred 

· Content area expertise: curriculum and instruction, teacher/educational leadership, reading, special education, ESOL, gifted 

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good judgment in making decisions concurrent with University policy 

· Ability to work cooperatively with all constituents 

· Excellent written and oral communication skills
