Post Published On:Arts for the Community at Thomas University’s Sundays at Four Chamber Music performance on Oct. 4 will features members of Camerata South chamber orchestra in a performance of the Piano Quintet in A major, D. 667 by Franz Shubert. The performance can be viewed live online at 4 p.m. at facebook.com/actu31792/live. No Facebook account is required.
Featured members of Camerata South will include Edward Charity and Joy Tedford on violin, Miriam Tellechea on viola, Boyan Bonev on cello, Christian Marshall on double bass and Kyung Ju Lee on piano.
The popular name for this quintet is the “Trout Quintet” because the fourth movement is based on the theme from Schubert’s earlier art song “Die Forelle” (The Trout). Schubert composed the work at age 22 but it was not published until after his untimely death at the age of 31. Filled with innovative harmonies and unique timbres, the “Trout Quintet” is one of Schubert’s great masterworks. This is a rare opportunity to hear the entire work performed live in broadcast from the beautiful acoustic space of Trinity Anglican Church.
