New ABOG Officers Elected

Jeremy Jones was recently elected President of the Alumni Board of Governors. Jeremy is a Grady County resident and 2011 graduate of TU. He earned his degree in business management and played on the baseball team. In 2011, he and his wife, Brooke, launched their business, Southern Promotions and Apparel, where they specialize in custom marketing apparel and swag. Jeremy and Brooke have two children, Turner and Gentry. In addition to serving as the ABOG President, Jeremy is also the President of Cairo Kiwanis and is a member of Pine Level Baptist Church. As if he wasn't busy enough, his family has just started breeding and raising show pigs for 4H and FFA families in the area.

Alyssa Blakley was also voted President Elect. Alyssa is a 2016 graduate with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Alyssa lives in Grady County with her two dogs, Lodi and Scout, and if they aren't keeping her busy she can be found playing golf or spending time on the water. Additionally, Alyssa was recently named City Manager for the City of Doe Run, Georgia, which you can read more about below!


Alyssa Blakley named City Manager of Doerun, Georgia

Alyssa Blakley, ABOG President Elect and 2016 graduate was recently named City Manager for the City of Doe Run, Georgia. Prior to taking on the role, Alyssa served as the Main Street/Downtown Development Authority Director for the City of Cairo, Georgia and in a similar role with the City of Pelham, Georgia. Her experience in these roles helped her learn a lot about municipal governments including downtown development, business recruitment, beautification, and economic development. In working closely with experienced city managers, she took in as much knowledge from them as she could while attending graduate school. In September of 2022 her hard work paid off and she was hired as the first female City Manager for the City of Doerun.

Chelsie Cosby accepts position with Archbold

Chelsie Cosby, former ABOG President and class of 2015 graduate, recently accepted a position with Archbold Medical Center. Chelsie is now serving as the HR Coordinator, providing HR support to Archbold systems outside of Thomasville including Brooks County Hospital, Mitchell County Hospital, and Grady General Hospital as well as Archbold's various assisted living centers such as Archbold Living Cairo, a new facility opening soon in Grady County. Prior to accepting the role with Archbold, Chelsie worked in human resources for Nivel Parts & Manufacturing, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida with her home base in nearby Cairo. With Archbold, Chelsie works predominately in Thomasville, but travels frequently to other Archbold systems. If you see her out and about, make sure to congratulate her on this new role!


Ben HoneyBen Honey

Ben Honey enrolled in Yale University' Physician Assistant program

Ben Honey, a class of 2022 graduate, returned to campus in March to talk to student about becoming a physician assistant. Benjamin is currently enrolled in Yale University' Physician Assistant program. Along with attending Yale, Honey is chairman of the CMil Advisory Board, which provides support and services for veterans, prospective and current service members, Department of Defense employees and their dependents. He is an owner of Bulwark Distribution Alliance, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned small business that is predicated as a textiles procurement entity for the government and private sector.

Benjamin partnered with fellow colleagues to begin the business which has grown to become one of the largest privately-owned, professional training organizations in the United States. Benjamin served as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Army and held various positions within the United States Government Special Operations serving in a variety of theatres. He has completed a broad array of specialized training programs in the military as well as through FEMA.
