Citizens High School & TU

Thomas University is excited to partner with Citizens High School to offer students two exciting opportunities!

Dual Enrollment

Current students enrolled at Citizens High School are eligible to participate in the Dual Enrollment program. This allows students to get a jump-start on their college careers while completing high school by earning both college and high school credit.

+Eligibility

To be eligible a student must:

  • Be enrolled in the tenth, eleventh or twelfth grade or home school program.
  • Be admitted to Thomas University.
  • Enroll in courses listed in the approved Dual Enrollment Course Directory with Citizens High School.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress.

+Tuition and Fees

  • Non-Georgia residents are charged the rate of $250 per credit hour for tuition.
  • For students residing in the State of Georgia tuition and books are covered the the State Dual Enrollment Program.

+Application Requirements

Minimums Scores
Math sub-test        SAT 510, ACT 20 Accuplacer 79

English sub-test   SAT 550, ACT 19 Accuplacer Writing 5, English 86

GPA         3.0

Student must, however, meet the following requirements:

  • Be on-track for completing all high school graduation requirements and their state’s required high school curriculum;
  • Have at least a 3.0 GPA;
  • Successfully completed two units of English (SAT EBRW score of 480, ACT English score of 17 or ACT Reading score of 17 can waive this requirement);
  • Successfully completed Algebra II or equivalent (SAT Math of 44 or ACT Math of 17 can waive this requirement).

Attention High School Seniors!

Thomas University offers a variety of scholarship opportunities for current high school seniors interested in earning their bachelor’s degree from TU!

Admission is guaranteed for graduates of Citizens High school who meet the minimum admissions requirements. Some majors have additional admission requirements which must be met prior to acceptance to the major.

  • Current high school students with a minimum high school GPA of 2.0. Students can be conditionally accepted with an in-progress transcript.  A final, official transcript is required prior to beginning classes. or
  • Official GED copy/score report.
  • Test Scores
    • ACT composite score of 18 or higher
    • SAT composite score of 940 or higher
    • Adult students with no prior college-level coursework will take the Accuplacer assessment and must score at college-level.
    • Students with scores lower than those noted above may be considered for admission on an individual basis.

NOTE:  Due to the difficulty of students registering for ACT, SAT and Accuplacer exams at this time, we are waiving testing requirements for Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 semesters.

Admission to the University does not guarantee admission to a specific program. The divisions of Nursing, Education, Medical Laboratory Science and Social Work have additional admission requirements which must be met before a student can begin taking upper division classes in their degree program.

+Scholarships

Eligibility for Academic Scholarships based on unweighted GPA as follows for students completing a bachelor’s degree and residing on-campus:
• 3.8+ GPA – $7,000
• 3.5 – 3.79 GPA – $6,000
• 3.0-3.49 GPA – $5,000

Students must enroll full-time the fall semester immediately following graduation from Excel High School, reside in University housing and complete FAFSA.

Additional institutional scholarships for athletic or activity participation can be used in conjunction with academic scholarships to $8,000.

Students wishing to a pursue their undergraduate degree online are eligible for academic scholarships as follows:
• 3.8+ GPA – $5,000
• 3.5 – 3.79 GPA – $4,000
• 3.0-3.49 GPA – $3,000

Students must enroll full-time the fall semester immediately following graduation from Excel High School and complete FAFSA.
