Resident Assistants (RA’s) are paraprofessional staff members who live in the Residence Hall and work directly with all Residence Hall students. RA’s are integral members of the Office of Student Life and maintain the closest and most enduring contact with all of the residential students at Thomas University. RA’s are charged with helping to promote individual growth while developing a sense of community that begins with roommates and extends to the entire Residence Hall and Thomas University. RA’s play a major role in the implementation of policies and programs through which the goals of the Office of Student Life can be achieved. While facilitating all policies and procedures, RA’s are required to conduct meetings with their residents, support resident students through peer counseling, plan educational and social programs, attend training and provide critical on-call duty coverage throughout the year. In short, the primary goal of the RA is aiding in the development of an environment that is conducive to the appropriate academic and personal growth of all students living within the Residence Hall.
