Chinese faculty group visits Chamber of Commerce
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, a group of 13 business faculty members from Guangzhou College of South China University of Technology (GC-SCUT) visited the Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce as part of a two-week visit to Thomas University. The goal of the site visit was to learn more about business operations in Thomasville and the resources that business owners have available to them as a way to encourage investment in the area. The discussion focused on the ways they support current and new businesses in the area and how Thomasville is unique in terms of its historic downtown shopping district. The faculty members were able to gain insight into the business profile of Thomasville and how it plays an important role in the development of the region. Participating in the round-table discussion were (front row from left) Christina Leach, Assistant Director of the Chamber of Commerce; Lauren Basford, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce; Karen Smith, Executive Director of Thomasville Main Street Program; Liguang Wu, Professor and Dean of the International School of Business at GC-SCUT; and Shelley Zorn, Thomasville’s Executive Director of Economic Development.
