Ena Parrott is entering
her second year as Head Women's Golf Coach. Ena worked as a Golf Professional at Glen Arven Country Club for
over ten years and decided to look toward coaching and then was named head
coach by the Athletic Department in August of 2005.
Coach Parrott attended
Tallahassee Community College on a full academic scholarship and earned her
Associates Degree in Business, maintaining a 3.5 GPA. She went on to
Florida State University where she attended the Professional Golf Management
Program. During her Sophmore year of college she achieved "Professional"
status and became a member of the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf
Association). After serving four years as an apprentice and a Class B
member she attained one of the highest rankings as Class A Professional with
the LPGA. She is one of the youngest to ever receive the status. Ena has
served as a National Evaluator for the LPGA for the past seven years. There
are only 19 evaluators in the country which is compiled of the best teachers
across the United States, most of which are in the top 50 golf instructors
for Golf Digest.
After setting the
standards with the 2006-07 inagural women's golf program, Coach Parrott is
looking forward to the second season. The goal for this year is to qualify
for the region tournament and place in the top four while maintaining an
average score of under 355. Having four sophomores and two freshman, the
goal in the next two years will to attend the National Tournament and finish
in the top 30. By the 2008-09 season, Coach Parrott would like to start a
second team and carry a roster of 12. Academically the bar has been set for
the future of the program as well, after the 2006-07 team was honored with a
NAIA Scholar Award. Only 400 teams across the country achieved this
standard.Parrott has two
daughters, Kelly (age 9) and Dana (age 5) who both love the game of golf and
want to be future collegiate golfers. Ena was married in August of 2005 to
the love of her life, David. They have one son together (well kind of),
his name is Tahoe and is a bassett hound puppy.
