Baseball Sets Date For Summer Camp

TU baseball has announced the dates for their summer baseball camp. Camp will be June 16-20.

Soccer Sets Summer Camp Dates

April 2, 2008

TU Men's and Women's soccer has announced the dates for their summer soccer camps. The first week will be June 2-5 and the second week will be July 28-31. Camps are open to boys and girls ages 5-17. Each week will feature a day camp (9AM-12PM) for kids ages 5-12 and an evening camp (5PM-8PM) for kids ages 12-17. Group and pre registration discounts are available.

TU Receives Bid To 2008 Region XIV Softball Tourney

The Thomas University Lady Night Hawks softball team (13-20) has received a bid to the 2008 Region XIV tourney to be played May 8-9 at the Paulson Softball Complex in Savannah, GA

TU will be seeded #4 and faces the #1 seeded Warner Southern College (34-9) in game one on Thursday May 8 at 5PM. The winner faces the winner of game two between the #2 seeded Savannah College of Art & Design Bees (37-11) and #3 seeded Webber International University Warriors (23-18) at 7PM. Losing teams of game one and two will face each other in an elimination game at 7PM.

Eagles Soar Over Night Hawks In Season Finale

April 26, 2008

The Embry Riddle University Eagles (38-13) swept a double header, 9-1 & 10-0, from the visiting Thomas University Night Hawks, on Saturday afternoon in Daytona Beach, FL.

Senior starting pitcher Kyle Palmer (3-5) lasted only 3 2/3 innings and allowed nine earned runs in the game one loss. Junior first baseman Matthew Blanton (2-3, RBI, 2B) and sophomore center fielder Brett Huett (2-4, R, SB) each had two hits for the Night Hawks.

ERU held TU to only four hits in the game two five inning "Run Rule" victory. Junior starting pitcher Steven Brooker (1-2) took the loss after lasting only two innings and allowing five runs, two earned, on five hits. Senior third baseman Stephen Cheney (2-2) finished his short career as a Night Hawk with a two hit performance.

Thomas finished the season at 24-23 and will miss out on a bid for the region XIV tournament.

Golf Ends Season At Region XIV Championships

April 14, 2008

Thomas University men's golf ended their season at the 2008 Region XIV Championships in Lake Wales, FL this afternoon. TU finished the three round event with a 929 (316, 317, 296), eighth in a field of nine teams.

Sophomore Lance Williams led the way for TU with a 228 (79, 79, 70). Williams finished 12 over for a top twenty finish his 70 in the third round was field wide low score for the round. TU had two more golfers place in the top 35, sophomore Jonathan Guess at #26 with a 231 (80, 77, 74) and freshman Ben Spooner at #31 with a 232 (77, 80, 75).

Top Five Finish For Williams At Camp LeJeune Intercollegiate

Sophomore Lance Williams (66, 72, 78) led the way for the Thomas University golf team finishing tied for fourth at the Camp LeJeune Intercollegiate in Camp LeJeune, NC.

Williams finished with a 216 (two over) in the three round event, tying for a field wide low round score of 66 in the first round. TU finished with a 901 (282, 302, 317) finishing tenth in a field of sixteen. Sophomore Jonathan Guess (221) had a top twenty finish ending tied for sixteenth.

TU will be looking for a bid to the NAIA National Championships as they travel to the Lake Wales Country Club in Lake Wales, FL on Sunday April 13 to compete in the 2008 Region XIV Championships.

Top Twenty Finish For Hargrove At Region XIV Championships

April 14, 2008

Sophomore Lindsey Hargrove led the way for the Thomas University Women's golf team at the 2008 Region XIV Championships played the last two days in Lake Wales, FL at the Lake Wales Country Club.

Hargrove finished the 36 hole round event with a 176 (89 & 87) tied for sixteenth. TU would finish with a 746 (380 & 366) good for fifth place in the field of six.

TU ends their season with a second consecutive fifth place finish at the Region XIV Championships and looks to continue their development as a young program.

Bruno Named NSCAA All South Region Scholar Athlete

March 10, 2008

Senior forward Josh Bruno was named a All South Region Scholar Athlete by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He was one of eleven selected for the south region, regardless of division, and the only member from the NAIA region 14 to receive this honor that is awarded to student athletes with a minimum overall GPA of 3.30 and who have started at least 50% of their games during the regular season and career. The resident of Tallahassee, FL has an overall GPA of 3.30 and finished the season with 7 goals, 3 assists for 17 points and 30 goals, five assists for 65 points during his career as a Night Hawk.

Men's soccer will open their 2008 season on Wednesday August 28, as they go on the road to face Warner Southern College.

Women's Soccer Named To NSCAA Silver Team Ethics Award List

March 10, 2008

The Thomas University Women's Soccer Team was honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) after being named to the 2007 Silver Team Ethics Award List. To be named to the list team must have completed their regular season with a maximum of 5 yellow cards and zero red cards. Only forty teams nation wide, regardless of division, were honored and TU was the only team from NAIA region 14. Teams finishing the season with zero cards were named to the gold list, only five schools nation wide were named to the list.

Women's soccer will open their 2008 season on Wednesday August 28, as they go on the road to face Warner Southern College.

NSCAA Team Ethics Award Winners

Ballinger Named NSCAA All South Region Scholar Athlete Honorable Mention

March 10, 2008

Senior midfielder Mandy Ballinger was named a All South Region Scholar Athlete Honorable Mention by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). It is awarded to student athletes, regardless of division, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.30 and who have started at least 50% of their games during the regular season and career. Ballinger was the only member from the NAIA region 14 to receive this honor . The resident of West Greenwich, RI has an overall GPA of 3.67 and finished the season with 3 goals, 0 assists for 6 points and 4 goals, 2 assists for 10 points during her career as a Night Hawk. She started in all forty four games in which she played. Ballinger is a repeat selection having been also honored in 2006.

Women's soccer will open their 2008 season on Wednesday August 28, as they go on the road to face Warner Southern College.
