John Gyles Education Award

This scholarship is available each year to students in both Canada and the United States. They are the result of a private, benevolent endeavor established in 1990.

Award: Up to $3,000

Qualifications:

• Full Canadian or American citizenship is required.
• Must have a minimum 2.7 GPA.
• Criteria other than strictly academic ability and financial need are considered in the selection process.
• All areas of post-secondary study are allowed.
• Must be enrolled full-time at (or accepted to) a college or university program as an undergraduate or graduate student. (High school seniors, and others, may apply pending acceptance.)

Ty Cobb Educational Foundation

Scholarships are normally awarded for a period of one academic year, but may be renewed for one or more years. To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must:

• Be an undergraduate student who is a resident of the State of Georgia
• Demonstrate financial need
• Be a full-time student
• Have completed at least 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of academic credits with a “B” or higher average in an accredited college.

Students with higher academic averages and the greatest need will be given priority.

Mary Elizabeth Lockwood Beneventi MBA Scholarship

This scholarship is a one-time award for a student attending graduate school full-time in an accredited college or university and majoring in business administration.

Amount: $2,000

GPA: Minimum 3.25

The scholarship is not automatically renewable, however, recipients may reapply for consideration each year.

All applicants must obtain a letter of sponsorship from their local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) chapter. The state scholarship chairman will assist in locating the chapter nearest you. Send a self-addressed, stamped business-size envelope to obtain the name and address of your state scholarship chairman and an application.

The DAR Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to qualified applicants regardless of race religion, sex or national origin.

AES Engineering Services Scholarship

Criteria:

• AES Engineering believes that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason they are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.
• Scholarships are intended for future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a postsecondary educational facility.
• Applicants are not required to be enrolled in an engineering program to qualify for this scholarship.

Requirements:

Students must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer to one of the two questions below:

1. What do you consider to be the single most important problem that is facing society today? Why?
2. Why are you a good candidate to receive this award?

Award: $500.00

The Alma S. Adams Scholarship for Outreach and Communications

Requirements:

• Be a graduating high school senior, college senior, or first-year graduate student
• Pursue full-time courses of study in either public health, communications, social work, education, liberal arts or a related field
• Must demonstrate a commitment to community service on behalf of a disadvantaged community and use of visual arts, media or other creative endeavors to convey a culturally appropriate health message aimed at raising community awareness of tobacco's harmful impact or countering tobacco use by a disadvantaged population
• Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA for your most recent academic year

BigSun Scholarship

The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. In order to do our part we are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.

Please send us a short (500 words or less) essay describing why you should be the winner of this award.

Who is Eligible?
All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in. The student must be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute.
