Week of January 14, 2008

Become a student leader! One of the fundamental qualities of excellent leaders is the ability to use information in powerful ways. The IP2 Leadership Program provides varied opportunities to use information power effectively.

New students! The new student orientation presentation contains important dates, policies, services, resources — in short, everything that new Night Hawks need to know.

Student Support Services has up to seven scholarships available to eligible and active SSS participants. For more information regarding eligibility status, contact Faye Johnson. All awards are for the 2007-2008 academic year.

An updated list of grants and scholarships is now available. The list contains requirements, contact information, and deadlines.

On Sunday, January 20, the Thomasville Cultural Center, Inc. and Thomas University present another program in their ongoing series, Sundays At Four." The concert will feature Lisa Mitchell on vocals with Paul Liljestrand on piano. It will also feature The Thomas University Jazz Ensemble and Latin Attitude quintet from Tallahassee with their brand of sizzling hot salsa-jazz featuring Karl Barton, flute and José “Papo” Carrasco, keyboard.


Week of January 21, 2008

The Student Government Association will be hosting an Information Fair and BBQ on Wednesday, January 23 from 11:30–4 PM. This information fair is a good way to get information about TU's programs and services.

The TU Music Department will present a free lunchtime concert featuring new FSU violin faculty member Corinne Stillwell with Carolyn Bridger, piano, in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church at 425 North Broad Street in Thomasville at noon on Friday, January 25.


Week of February 3, 2008

The SGA is hosting a Jazz and Poetry Night as an activity for Black History Month. This event will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at the Bean Company on Broad Street from 6-8 PM. TU students are invited to participate by reciting poems or stories that they have written or that have inspired them, or by enhancing the program through song. Participants should contact the SGA office at 226-1621, ext. 202 no later than Monday, Feb. 4.

Week of February 17, 2008

TU is hosting an Education Career Day Thursday, Feb. 21 from 9:30-11:30 AM and 3-5 PM in the Campus Center.


Week of February 24, 2008

Come join the Thomas County Living History Timeline Celebration on the TU campus on Friday, February 29 from 8:30 AM-2:30 PM (for schools) and Saturday, March 1, from 10 AM-6 PM.

Week of March 2, 2008

On Sunday, March 9, the Thomasville Cultural Center, Inc. and Thomas University will present another program in their ongoing series, Sundays At Four. The program will feature Sally Barton, viola, and other young artists from the Thomasville area.

TU is a member of Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC), a consortium of colleges and universities dedicated to helping service members and their families get college degrees. Military students can take courses in their off-duty hours at or near military installations in the United States, overseas, and on Navy ships.


Week of March 16, 2008

The SGA is sponsoring a forum with President Dr. Gary Bonvillian in the Campus Center at 2 PM on March 17. All students are invited to attend and bring their questions for TU's president.

Week of April 6, 2008

The SGA is hosting a three-day relationship abuse prevention seminar on April 10-12. The seminar is designed to educate people about and help prevent the alarming number of injuries and deaths that occur because of dating and/or family violence.


Week of April 20, 2008

Everyone is invited to attend the 2008 MT/CLS Senior Poster Presentation in the Hawks' Nest on April 23 from 12:30-2 PM. Door prizes & cookies! Come see how clinical laboratory scientists help diagnose and treat diseases.

The TU alumni soccer reunion will be held on Saturday, April 26. The men’s game is scheduled for 11 AM and the women’s game for 2 PM. Lunch will be available. The community is invited to come and enjoy the games.
