The Liberal Studies program is a flexible course of study that explores the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. It teaches ways of thinking, exploring, understanding, and seeing the world from different perspectives. The Liberal Studies program allows students to pursue a range of intellectual interests and provides a foundation for careers in law, journalism, government, and various fields of public service, or for cultural employment in organizations such as historical societies or museums.

Students seeking the Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies complete a course of study that includes the Core Curriculum, upper-division electives chosen from the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and career-oriented courses, and four semesters of a foreign language. Students seeking the Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies substitute four electives in place of the foreign language courses. Thomas University accepts the Associate of Arts degree in lieu of the Core Curriculum.
