The application period for general institutional scholarships is January 1 — March 1. Interested students should complete the institutional scholarship application and submit a résumé, statement explaining why they should be selected, and contact information for three references. Overview

Grants, scholarships, and the Federal Work Study Program are available to help defray students' educational expenses. These types of financial aid do not have to be repaid.

TU Grant (formerly the Out-of-State Tuition Equalization Grant)
The TU Grant is designed for non-Georgia residents who are enrolled full-time (taking 12 or more semester hours). The award is $1,000 per academic year. Please complete the
FAFSA to be considered for this award.


Singletary Scholarship
This institutional scholarship is specifically for the upcoming Summer Semester. The award amount is $1,000.

Requirements

  • Must complete the Singletary Scholarship Application
  • Must be an undergraduate student with a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Fall 2008 enrollment is required
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2007-2008 and 2008-2009
  • Typed statement explaining specific circumstances which lead to a need for financial assistance
  • Contact information for three references (cannot be a relative)

    Dean’s Scholarship
    The Dean’s Scholarship is offered to juniors and seniors who have completed at least 60 credit hours towards a college degree and have selected a major to complete their degree.

    Amount
    Full cost of tuition and matriculation fees and up to $500 in books per academic year after all federal and state grants are applied.

    The scholarship can be used two semesters of each academic year and may be renewed for a second year if the recipient maintains a 3.25 GPA. If the GPA requirement is met, the recipient can continue receiving the scholarship until the scholarship pays for a maximum of 60 credit hours or the recipient receives a bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first. Continuous full-time enrollment is required.

    Qualifications

    • Be accepted as a Thomas University student (including admission application and all official academic transcripts) or be considered a currently enrolled Thomas University student.
    • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
    • Apply for and accept all federal and state grants. Must complete the FAFSA.
    • Be available for an interview if desired.

    Requirements

    • Résumé including any work experience, community activities, and honors.
    • Minimum of two letters of recommendation from the faculty of Thomas University or previous college and one letter of reference from employer, if applicable.
    • Letter of intent to include academic goals, accomplishments, and other expectations.

    TU Alumni Scholarship
    All TU alumni who have received a bachelor degree are eligible for a scholarship towards any one of TU's graduate programs. Full-time students will receive a one thousand dollar scholarship, students taking six hours will receive a five hundred dollar scholarship, and students taking less than six hours will receive a two hundred and fifty dollar scholarship. All scholarship policies apply and can be found in the Thomas University catalog.

    Graduate Student Scholarship

    Qualifications

    • New graduate students must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative undergraduate GPA.
    • Returning graduate students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA.
    • The recipient must maintain a continuous enrollment of at least 6 hours per semester.
    • The $2,000 award will be split between two terms. The recipient must achieve a minimum 3.5 GPA to receive the second semester portion of the scholarship award.

    Requirements

    • Letter of application that describes your scholarly aims, community service/experience relating to the area of graduate study, and potential for enhanced contributions to the profession because of graduate study/graduate degree
    • Two letters of recommendation from professors or employers who can speak to your potential for academic and professional success
