Instruction and Reference Librarian

Thomas University seeks an energetic librarian for information literacy instruction and reference services. The position focus is primarily on the development and implementation of campus based and on-line student and faculty support for learning and research through the University’s Quality Enhancement Plan. The librarian selected for this position will work closely with the QEP coordinators and the faculty to provide leadership in establishing instructional practices and learning environments that foster information literacy as a key component of student academics. Reporting to the library director, this person will serve as a collaborative team member of a small staff in providing quality services to students and faculty.

Required qualifications:

Salary is competitive with full benefits package. This is a full-time, twelve month position.

Academic Technology Specialist

Thomas University seeks an Academic Technology Specialist to support the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning in both traditional and online environments in a full-time eleven-month position. The ATS will investigate and recommend educational technologies, applications, and/or solutions appropriate for particular delivery needs, acquire and implement those technologies, train and assist faculty in their use, and advocate for the integration of current technologies and instructional design principles that enable active learning and effective and engaged instruction. The ATS will serve as the Course Management System administrator, providing first-tier support for faculty and students.

Thomas University offers traditional, hybrid, and online courses, utilizing a conventional course management system; our faculty brings experience and commitment to developing high-quality course delivery through various models. The ATS will assist in making expertise and currency with instructional technologies pervasive in our course design and teaching. This position reports to the Chief Academic Officer.

A bachelor’s degree is required; master’s is preferred. Three to five years' experience in information or instructional technology services; previous experience in an academic setting and utilizing a course management system is required. A demonstrated pedagogical and practical understanding of best practices in instructional design and the use of educational technologies is required. Also required are multimedia development skills as evidenced by experience with web design and digital video editing software. The candidate must have a proven ability to collaborate with faculty and administrators, excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills, an orientation to customer service and personal learning, and a passion for enabling effective educational environments.
