The secondary grades education program is designed to prepare professional educators to teach in public and private secondary schools. Pre-service teachers specialize in one of the following content areas: English, mathematics, science, or social studies. For admission, retention, and graduation requirements, please refer to the section entitled "Specific Admission and Retention Requirements" on page 50 of the catalog. Total number of credit hours to earn a B.S. in Secondary Education varies upon area of specialization. Upper division coursework will range between 60 and 63 semester hours. Pre-service teachers should plan to take four to five semesters in full time upper division course work.
