The criminal justice/law enforcement curriculum is an ideal choice for the student intending to pursue employment in the area of law enforcement upon graduation. The curriculum is designed to meet the nine-week minimum curriculum standards as mandated by the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Council of Georgia. A student completing this program will have met the minimum standards taught in the Basic Training Course for peace officer training and should be eligible for Georgia peace officer certification upon successful completion of the POST exit exam and for employment with a law enforcement agency.

For successful graduation from a police academy as
a P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement officer with 600
or more Basic Training hours, credit will be given for
40 credit hours of previous course work in Criminal
Justice.The following core courses must be taken at
Thomas University to receive the associate degree.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice at Thomas University is a four-year program of study which consists of the course work listed below. Some substitutions for upper division courses may be made, with the approval of the advisor and the division chair, based upon the availability of equivalent courses. In addition, Thomas University provides a Pre-Law Advisory Committee to help students prepare for law school or a paralegal career. Ask your advisor for a Pre-law Advising Guide and other information.
Electives: Although students may select nearly any upper division course to satisfy their upper division electives, all course selections must first be approved by a criminal justice advisor for appropriateness.

A minor in Criminal Justice is available for students majoring in programs outside of criminal justice and who are accepted by the division chairperson.
