Professional Expertise / Area(s) of Teaching and/or Practice:
I supervise first and second semester Early Childhood students in a variety of schools locally and in the Southwest Georgia region. I facilitate Field seminars each week. I work with administrators and mentors in schools around Thomasville and the surrounding area. I teach Introduction to Education,Exploring Diversity and Science Methods for Early Childhod and Middle Grades.
Research Interests and Significant Professional Accomplishments
Early Discoveries, a series of five computer programs for young children, “Patterns and Sequence” awarded the High Scope Award of Excellence in Early Childhood software and the Parents Choice award. Five books for children including,
Making Friends, Treat me Like Royalty, The Line Leader, The Mystery of the Brown Paper Bag, and It Takes All Kinds. Served on a committee for Whole Child Leon that published a CD for children with local artists represented (November, 2007).
Served as administrator for one of the first preschools in the nation to receive Accreditation by the NAEYC.
Served as a mentor to Florida and Georgia schools as they sought accreditation.
Taught and served as an administrator for 30 years.
Taught as an adjunct at FSU in Early Childhood for 10 years.
Worked with Rep. Loranne Ausley as her Early Childhood Liaison helping to pass two bills for the benefit of the education of young children in the state of Florida.
