Jessica Sanders, Assistant Softball Coach / Head JV Softball Coach
TU Head Softball Coach Bill Wilson announced the hiring of Jessica Sanders as Assistant / Head JV Softball Coach. Sanders comes to TU from Shorter University where she has spent the past two seasons as the assistant coach. In the two year span at Shorter University they were NAIA National Champions 2012 and finished 2nd at the NCCAA National Tournament in 2013.
Prior to attending Shorter, Jessica spent one season at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX where in their inaugural season they finished 2nd in the Red River Conference regular season.
Sanders began her collegiate playing career at West Georgia, where she still holds the university’s single-season home run record of 15 that she set as a freshman in 2005. Sanders transferred to Shorter following her freshman season at West Georgia and was an All-SSAC performer in 2006, 2007 and 2008 for the Lady Hawks. Sanders was named SSAC Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2006 when she set Shorter’s single-season home run record with 16. Her .924 slugging percentage that year is also a Shorter record. Sanders, a two-time NAIA All-American, is also Shorter’s career leader in home runs (37) and batting average (.400). She ranks second all-time in Shorter history in doubles and RBI.
The native of Bowdon, GA holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physical Education from the University of West Florida and a Master’s of Art degree in Leadership from Shorter University.
