Thomas University has named Julie Orlowski the Night Hawks fourth Head Women’s Soccer Coach in school history, director of athletics Mike Lee announced on Thursday afternoon February 21st..
Orlowski joins TU after spending the last twelve seasons at the helm of the NCAA D1 Stetson University women’s soccer program. During her time at a Hatter, she recorded 126 wins and her teams reached the Atlantic Sun Tournament each year from 2003-10 and advanced to the A-Sun title match in 2006. She coached 28 all-conference performers, including 11 first team selections. In her twelve seasons she also helped tutor the league’s Defensive (twice), Offensive (twice) and Freshman (twice) Player of the Year.
Her teams at Stetson also excelled in the classroom, earning four NSCAA All-Academic selections, six CoSIDA Academic All-Region selections as well as public recognition from the NCAA for the program’s outstanding Academic Performance Rate. Coach Orlowski has also been heavily involved in the administrative side of the NCAA after serving on the NCAA National Committee from 2009-2013 and the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee from 2006-2013.
“We are excited to add Julie to our athletic department”, said Lee. “The future of our women’s soccer program is bright today. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge, on & off the field, and gives our department a seventh staff member with NCAA D1 experience.”
Prior to Stetson, Orlowski coached at the University of South Florida (assistant coach), Boise State University, University of North Florida and fellow Sun Conference foe St. Thomas University. Orlowski holds a United States Soccer Federation "B" License. She is a state coach for the Florida Youth Soccer Association and has served as an Olympic Development Program instructor.
Orlowski received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication from Florida International University, where she was a four year starter and team captain, and earned a Master of Science in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University in 1995.
