Corey Potter, Head Strength & Conditioning Coach
Corey Potter joined the Thomas University Athletic Department in the summer of 2012 as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for all 12 athletic teams.
Before coming to Thomas University, Potter served as a full time intern strength and conditioning coach at The University of Maryland working primarily with men’s soccer, wrestling, men’s golf, women’s golf, women’s water polo, softball, and track and field. During the 2012 season, the Maryland wrestling team won the ACC Championship and the Maryland men’s soccer team advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA College Cup.
Prior to Maryland, Potter worked at The University of Alabama for 3 years as a volunteer assistant strength and conditioning coach. During his first year he worked primarily with women’s basketball, women’s golf, and softball. Potter spent his remaining two years at Alabama working as an intern strength and conditioning coach with the football team. He spent a majority of his time training the Crimson Tide’s defensive players. Potter assisted the training of current NFL players such as; Dont’a Hightower (New England Patriots), Courtney Upshaw (Baltimore Ravens), Rolando McLain (Oakland Raiders), Brandon Deaderick (New England Patriots) and Terrance Cody (Baltimore Ravens). During both the 2009 and 2011 seasons, the Crimson Tide football team won the National Championship.
Potter is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He received his Master’s degree in Sports Management in 2010 from The University of Alabama and his Bachelor’s degree in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University in 2006.
Potter is the son of Mic and Kim Potter and the brother of Ryan Potter. He comes from a family with a strong coaching background, his father Mic is the head women’s golf coach at The University of Alabama and his brother Ryan is the assistant men’s golf coach at The Ohio State University. Corey is currently engaged to Amanda Lynd and resides in Thomasville.
