William Taylor, Assistant Baseball Coach

William "Boo" Taylor enters his second season as Assistant Baseball Coach. He comes to TU from Tallahassee Community College, where he served in the same capacity for three seasons.

Prior to his time at TCC, "Boo" was the head coach at The Brookwood School, leading the Warriors to consecutive Georgia Independent Schools Association (GISA) Championships.

At the age of 18 Taylor was selected, out of Thomas County Central HS, by the Texas Rangers in the second round of the 1980 Major League Baseball amateur entry draft. After 14 years in minor league baseball, he earned a spot on the 1994 opening day roster for the Oakland Athletics. Boo went on to pitch parts of the next seven seasons in the Majors as a relief pitcher, ending his career in 2001 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. During his seven seasons he appeared in 317 games, with a record of 16-28 and 100 saves while posting a 4.21 ERA and striking out 307 in 324.2 innings pitched.

Taylor resides in Thomasville with his wife Lisa and daughter Logan.
