Thomas University takes student safety very seriously. We do realize that emergencies can happen at any time and place. We make every effort to be prepared in case of emergencies. As part of our commitment to campus safety, Thomas University has a Campus Emergency Alert System, which notifies participants immediately in case of an emergency. Our campus crime statistics reflect the extent to which our campus is a safe, secure environment. Students, staff, faculty, applicants, and prospective employees are able to review Thomas University annual campus crime report and fire safety report. Evacuation plans are posted in all buildings throughout the campus.

Emergency Response and Evacuation Procedures
Thomas University has created an Emergency Procedures Handbook to guide decisions necessary for action in the case of an emergency. This document is available through a link on the desktop of each computer on TU’s campus and as a hard copy in each department on campus.
Emergency information is also available in flipbooks located in campus buildings next to fire extinguishers and fire alarm pull stations.
Although Thomas University believes its campus is safe, we do realize that emergencies can happen any time and place and make every effort to be prepared. TU understands the importance of promptly notifying students in the event of an emergency. It is equally important that all students understand that this requires cooperation on their part as well. This can be accomplished in the following way:
- Updating emergency contact information by contacting the Registrar’s Office
- Reporting any incident requiring immediate attention
If an emergency involves IMMEDIATE action because of potential or actual harm to yourself or others, CALL 911. Then notify the Director of Communications at (229) 977-1449.
An emergency phone station is located on the Forbes campus next to the Rust Science Complex. In non-emergency situations after 7:00pm, call Campus Security at (229) 221-6791 if assistance is needed.
