May 22, 2013
TU Women's Golfer Jessica MacPhee climbed the table by 34 spots into a tie for 35th overall on day two of the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships this afternoon at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, NE.
The senior improved by six strokes, shooting a 76 (+4) in the second 18 of the championships. MacPhee, after shooting an 82 in round one, leaped into a six way tie for the 35th spot with a overall score of 158 after 36 holes. At the 2012 National Championships, MacPhee faced a similar challenge of needing to climb the table and jumped ten spots from 25th to a tie for 15th in round three after a round two knocked her from #1 to #25.
"Jessica's short game was really sharp today", said TU Head Women's Golf Coach Peter Ireland. "She struggled again today off the tee, but she made up for it with great putting and chipping."
Round two action continues tomorrow at 7:30 CDT.

Tough Opening Round for MacPhee at National Championship
May 21, 2013
Senior Women's Golfer Jessica MacPhee encountered a tough opening round at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships this afternoon at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, NE.
MacPhee shot an 82 (+10), finishing round one in a tie for 69th overall in a field featuring 142 of the top NAIA women's golfers in the country. "She struggled off the tee today which is normally her biggest strength", said Head Women's Golf Coach Peter Ireland. "On this course if your not in the fairway it can be very tough. If she can keep the ball in the fairway for the rest of the tournament she can absolutely jump back into contention."
Round two action continues tomorrow at 7:30 CDT.
