TU Women's Golf Finishes 21st at NAIA Nationals

TU Women's Golf finished 21st at the 2010 NAIA National Tournament played over the last four days at the Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City, SD.
Thomas shot a 354 in the final 18 and finished with a 1426 (349/369/354/354, +274) overall. Freshman Jessica Macphee finished tied for 64th overall after shooting a 82 in the final round and finished with a 332 (78/89/83/82, +44). Fellow freshman Sara Engsig finished tied for 95th overall with a 81 and shot a 351 overall (88/91/91/81, +63). Juniors Dayna Dixon (T100, 89/87/87/91, +66) and Juliana Aurie (119, 94/102/93/100, +101) rounded out the scoring for TU.
The Lady Night Hawks finish up the most successful season in the history of the young program with a trip to the NAIA National Tournament and will look to build upon this season when they hit the links this fall as they seek a 2nd straight appearance at the NAIA National Tournament.
Lady Night Hawks 22nd with One Round to Go

The Lady Night Hawks are down to 22nd overall with one round to go at the 2010 NAIA National Tournament being played at the Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City, SD.
TU shot a 354 in the third round and has now shot a 1072 thru the first three days. Freshman Jessica Macphee shot a 83 and finished in 67th. She has now shot 250 (78/89/83, +34) over the three rounds. Junior Dayna Dixon was the only other Lady Night Hawk to finish within the top 100 after shooting a 87 and running her three day total to a 263 (89/87/87, +47).
Thomas will conclude their participation at the National Tournament tomorrow with a 9:30AM EST tee off.
Women's Golf Drops into Tie for 21st, After Day Two of Nationals

Women's Golf dropped into a tie for 21st overall after day two of the 2010 NAIA National Tournament being played at the Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City, SD.
The ladies shot a 369 on the day and now have a total score of 718 (+142). Individually, TU was led once again by freshman Jessica Macphee who shot a 89 (+17) and is currently tied for 65th overall. Junior Dayna Dixon, 87 (+15), is tied for 93rd. Freshman Sara Engsig, 91 (+19), and junior Juliana Aurie, 102 (+30), rounded out the scoring for the Lady Night Hawks.

Lady Night Hawks Golf 19th After Day 1 of National Tournament

Lady Night Hawks opened up play today in the their first ever appearance at the NAIA National Tournament and finished in 19th after completing round one.
TU shot a 350 (+62) in the first 36 holes at the Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City, SD. Freshman Jessica Macphee led the way for Thomas after shooting a 78 (+7) and finishing day one tied for 29th overall. Freshman Sara Engsig finished tied for 88th with a 88. Juniors Dayna Dixon (89), T94, and Juliana Aurie (94), T115, rounded out the scoring for the Lady Night Hawks.

Women's Golf Heading to First Ever National Tournament

The four year old Women's Golf team will be heading to it's first ever National Tournament after winning the 2010 Association of Independent Institutions Direct Qualifier this afternoon in Crosville, TN.
NAIA #23 Thomas topped Ohio Dominican by 2 strokes shooting a 676 (335/341) over the two rounds of action. TU led by four shots with nine holes to play this afternoon and was able to hold off ODU to take the championship and the Automatic Bid to the 2010 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships to be played in Rapid City, SD May 26-28. Freshman Jessica Macphee was the Low Medalist, leading all golfers with a 158 (78/80). Junior Dayna Dixon had a solid performance firing a 169 (85/85) and finishing second in team scoring.
"This is an outstanding day for our program", said Head Coach Mike Harper. "I am extremely excited and proud of our players, they have worked really hard to raise the level of our program and are very deserving of this opportunity. This achievement has been made possible not only by our current players but also by the work of the young ladies who took the chance four years ago to be a part of starting this program".
Women's Golf will be heading to Rapid City, SD in late May and will participate in three rounds of action at the Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course facing off against 24 of the best teams in the country in hopes of capturing the second NAIA national championship ever by a TU athletic team.
Lady Night Hawks Lead Field After Day One of A.I.I. Direct Qualifier

The Lady Night Hawks golf team leads the field after day one of the 2010 Association of Independent Institutions Direct Qualifier being played in Crosville, TN.
TU shot a 399 after the first 27 holes yesterday and hold a four shot advantage over Ohio Dominican University. Due to weather concerns the first 9 holes of today's second round action was played yesterday. Yesterday's action took place in 50 degree temperature with consistent rain and today's forecast calls for more intense rain. Freshman Jessica Macphee leads for the Low Medalist spot by five shots after firing off a 118 in day one action.
Play resumes this morning in Crossville, TN at 11:30AM EST as TU seeks their first ever spot at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships to be played in Rapid City, SD May 26-28.
8th Place Finish for TU at SCAD Invitational

TU finished 8th out of 14 teams on Tuesday afternoon in the SCAD Invitational, played at the Wilmington Island Country Club in Savannah, GA.
The Lady Night Hawks shot a 681 (332/349) over the two rounds, +113, forty seven strokes off the tournament leader. TU placed two individuals in the overall top 25. Junior Dayna Dixon shot a 164 (84/80), finishing +22 and tied for 22nd overall. Freshman Sarah Engsig finished tied for 25th overall with a 166 (81/85), 24 over par.
Thomas will be back on the greens on Saturday April 10 when they open play in the Bash at the Beach hosted by Embry Riddle University at the Pelican Bay Country Club in Daytona Beach, FL.
NAIA #18 Women's Golf 12th at Eagle Invitational

NAIA #18 TU women's golf finished 12th of 15 teams in the Eagle Invitational, played at the Pelican Bay Country Club in Daytona Beach, FL over the past two days.
The Lady Night Hawks shot a 720 (360-360) overall in the two rounds of action. Freshman Sara Engsig finished tied for 20th overall with a 168 (88-80). Fellow freshman Jessica Macphee also broke the top 50, finishing 43rd overall with a 177 (88-89).
Women's golf will next travel to the Wilmington Island Country Club in Savannah, GA on Friday March 29 to open up play in the SCAD Invitational.
Lady Night Hawks Move Up to #18 in First Regular Season NAIA Poll, #1 in A.I.I Poll

The Lady Night Hawks golf team moved up to #18 in the first regular season NAIA Top 25 poll.
This is the highest ranking in the history of the four year old program. In the pre season poll TU had been ranked #19. The ladies also moved up to #1 in the Association of Independent Institutions/Unaffiliated Conference Poll. TU had been rated #3 in the pre season poll.
TU will be back in action on March 13 when they open up play at the Eagle Invitational in Daytona Beach, FL.
Ladies Golf Opens Spring with 3rd Place Finish

Ladies Golf opened up their spring season with a 3rd Place finish at the Start 2 Finish Invitational hosted by Webber International University at the Lake Wales Country Club in Lake Wales, FL.
The Lady Night Hawks shot a 647 (329 & 318, +71) over the two rounds of action and finished eight strokes off the mark. Freshman Sara Engsig finished two strokes off the top of the table, tied for second overall, after shooting a 153 (81 & 72, +9). Junior Juliana Aurie (82 & 81, +19) shot a 163 and freshman Jessica Macphee (82 & 82, +20) finished with a 164, both placed in the top 15 overall.
TU will be back in action on March 13 when they open up play at the Eagle Invitational in Daytona Beach, FL.
Lady Night Hawks Golf, Receives First Ever NAIA Top 25 Ranking

The Lady Night Hawks golf team received their first ever NAIA Top 25 ranking landing at #19 in the coaches poll.
TU women's golf, under second year head coach Mike Harper, is in their fourth season as an intercollegiate program and has shown promise with their results in the tournaments this past fall. They capped off their Fall season with a Runner Up finish at the University of Mobile Fall Classic, finishing only behind NAIA #4 Northwood University. The Lady Night Hawks are aiming to continue their development as a young program and are shooting for a spot in the Association of Independent Institutions Golf Tournament in April.
Women's Golf, Runner Up at UM Fall Classic

Women's golf finished runner up in a field of seven at the UM Fall Classic played over the last two days at the Azalea Golf Club in Mobile, AL.
The Lady Night Hawks finished 13 strokes off the top spot after shooting a 655 (324 & 331) over the two days on the greens. TU was led by freshman Jessica Macphee who shot a 156 (78 & 78) over the two rounds of action in route to a runner up finish. Junior Juliana Aurie also finished in the top 10 after firing a 163 (79 & 84), tied for seventh. Junior Dayna Dixon missed a top 10 finish by only one stroke, finishing with a 165 (83 & 82).
TU will break for the rest of the semester and will hit the links once again in the Spring semester.
TU 13th of 19 at Fall Slam

TU women's golf finished 13th of 19 at the 2009 Flagler Fall Slam, played at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, FL.
Freshman Sara Engsig led the way for the Lady Night Hawks, finishing tied for 32nd overall after shooting a 162 (78 & 84) over the two rounds of action. As a team TU shot a 662 (325 & 337) and finished third among the five participating NAIA schools.
The ladies return to action on Monday November 2nd when they open play in the University of Mobile Fall Classic at the Azalea City Golf Club.
Lady Night Hawks Golf Finish Day One of Flagler Fall Slam

The Lady Night Hawks golf team finished up day one of the 2009 Flagler Fall Slam tied for 12th after shooting a 325 at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, FL.
Freshman Sara Engsig was the top shooter for TU after shooting a 78 (+6) and finishing round one action tied for 21st. Action wraps up tomorrow as TU looks to make up strokes on the greens.
Women's Golf Opens Season with Runner Up Finish

Women's Golf opened their season with a runner up finish on Sunday afternoon in the 16th Annual Webber Invitational at the Lake Wales Country Club in Lake Wales, FL.
Freshman Jessica MacPhee led the way for TU shooting a 161 (84 & 77) over the two rounds, finishing in third overall. Fellow freshman Sarah Engsig also had a top five finish after shooting a 167 (86 & 81). As a team the Lady Night Hawks shot a 674 (343 & 331).
The ladies will return to the course on Sunday September 27 in the TU Fall Classic at the Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville, GA.
