TU Defeats Brenau, 1-0, on Senior Day
November 1, 2009
TU (8-8-1) defeated Brenau University (9-5-2), 1-0, on Senior Day this afternoon at the Wendy's Soccer Complex.
A highly motivated Lady Night Hawk team took the field in the first half after honoring their two seniors and captains, Emily Delozier & Tiffany Parker, prior to kickoff. TU and BU battled throughout the first thirty seven minutes but it was freshman Sara Aggers who put the Lady Night Hawks ahead in the 38th minute when she deposited a cross from fellow freshman Taylor Agricola in the back of the BU net from the penalty spot. Up by one in the second, TU continued to press looking for a goal to increase their lead but the Brenau keeper was able to hold the one goal deficit by making six second half saves. The Lady Night Hawks would be unable to find the back of the net again but a solid performance by the TU defense, anchored by Parker, would hold the lead for the shutout victory. Sophomore goalkeeper Heather Collins recorded two saves in route to her fourth shutout of the year.
Delozier leaves her playing days behind at TU after starting 35 of 43 games and logging over 3,500 minutes in the last three seasons as a defender, midfielder, and forward. The native of Simpsonville, SC transfered to Thomas after red shirting her freshman year at Coastal Carolina University. Parker has started 33 of 34 games over the last 2 seasons as part of the Lady Night Hawks backline. She finishes her career with over 3,000 minutes after transfering to TU from Tallahasse Community College. Prior to TCC, Tiffany had played two seasons at Darton Junior College in Albany, GA. Both leaders will be missed and always a part of the TU soccer family.
The Lady Night Hawks end yet another season of progress after doubling their win total from 2008. TU's 8-8-1 record marks their first non losing season since 2004 and is another significant step in the continued rebirth of the program. A four game un beaten streak in October was the longest for the program since 2004. With a solid core of returning players, TU will look to use this season as motivation in their off season preparation for the 2010 season. After a physical recooperation period in November, the team will be back to work in the weight room and pool, looking forward to a competetive spring season.
Lady Senators defeat Lady Night Hawks
October 28, 2009
The Auburn University at Montgomery Senators (12-3-1), ranked #16 in the NAIA, looked every bit the part defeating the Lady Night Hawks (7-8-1), 5-1, on Wednesday afternoon in Montgomery, AL.
TU was able to withstand an AUM offensive surge to begin the game and was able to create some chances of their own but it was the Lady Senators who put away the first goal at the 21:21 mark of the first when a AUM forward and a TU defender scrambled on the ground for a loose ball at the six yard box. The AUM forward was eventually able to knock home the loose ball for the 1-0 advantage. In the 30th minute Auburn Montgomery received a favorable penalty kick call on questionable contact by a TU defender inside the box to double their lead. With three minutes left in the half AUM found the back of the net again when AUM countered and found a wide open Lady Senator at the far post for the easy knock in. The Lady Night Hawks did not give in and continued to try and press on for a goal to get them back in the game but AUM got two more in the 60th and 67th minutes to put the game away. Freshman Rachel Fell put home a penalty kick on another questionable decision by the official to get TU on the scoreboard at the 87:21 mark. The game several other suspect foul calls for both teams and some very close offside decisions. Any outside chance for a Lady Night Hawk playoff berth was dashed with the defeat.
Seniors Tiffany Parker and Emily Delozier will be honored on Sunday November 1 at Senior Day, when TU welcomes Brenau University for their regular season finale. The two seniors will be honored prior to the 1pm kickoff.

The Lady Night Hawks notched the game in the 67th minute when sophomore Casey Ponder found sophomore Natashalee Scott at the Eagles far post on a cross from the right side, which Scott deposited in the back of the net with a first time volley. With both teams looking for the game winner it was TU that was able to find the back of the net one last time on Agricola's goal after receiving a thru ball from fellow freshman Rachel Fell and striking the ball past the Eagles goalkeeper from just inside the 18 yard box. Boissonneault collected four saves in the Lady Night Hawks net to pick up her second victory of the year.

Fifth year head coach Ricky Zambrano, welcomed 10 freshman to campus this season and all will be counted on to make the 09 Lady Night Hawks a deeper team at all positions. Freshman Rachel Fell (Crawley, England) will be counted on to make an immediate impact in the TU midfield. "Rachel is as talented a player as we have had around here in a long time", said Zambrano. "She will be a big factor and will help make everybody around her a better player". Forward Tyler Patterson (Lakeland, FL) will hope to be on the back end of a lot of Fell's penetrating passes and will be looking to be a dangerous scoring threat. Midfielder Myra Jenkins (Venice, FL), a teammate of Patterson in club soccer, will bring a great deal of work rate to the Lady Night Hawks midfield while Sarah Aggers (Riverview, FL) will look to use her athleticism against opposing defenses in the outside midfield and in the front line.
