February 12, 2013

The Thomas University men’s and women’s swim teams have completed their inaugural regular season of competition and have laid a solid foundation for the future.

TU will conclude their successful first year with three swimmers qualifying for the NAIA Men’s and Women’s Swimming National Championships to be held February 27 – March 2 in Oklahoma City, OK . The Night Hawks competed in six meets from November thru the beginning of February.  Freshman Logan O’Bryne (Tallahassee, FL – Florida State University H.S.) swam in all six meets with his best times of the year coming at the SCAD Invite. Logan swam middle distance freestyle and backstroke events this year. Junior Justin Akins (Atlanta, GA – Darton College) also swam in all six meets capturing a lifetime best time in the 50 Free at the Birmingham Southern Invite. Justin competed in sprint freestyle events and sprint Butterfly events. Junior Nicole Hawkins (Brunswick, GA – Darton College) competed in six meets this season, recording her best times of the year in all of her events at the SCAD invitational. Nicole competed in both distance freestyle and backstroke events. Freshman Lauren Thompson (Tallahassee, FL – Chiles H.S.) swam in five meets this season.
