Swimming Adds First Recruit

Head Swim Coach Edward Von Hertsenberg announced the signing this afternoon of the Thomas University Swimming Program's first recruit when Lauren Thompson signed a Letter of Intent to compete for the Night Hawks beginning in the Fall of 2012.
Thompson is currently a senior at Lawton Chiles High School in Tallahassee, FL. She is a 50 and 100 meter sprint freestyle specialist and has been a part of 2 State Championship teams at Chiles. During her four years as a member of the Timberwolves swim program she has also won four District Championships and two Regional Championships.
The Night Hawks will begin competing in the Fall of 2012.
TU Adds Swimming, Hires Von Hertsenberg as Head Coach

Thomas University Athletic Director, Mike Lee, has announced the addition of Men's and Women's Swimming as an Intercollegiate sport beginning in the Fall of 2012. Lee has also announced the hiring of Edward Von Hertsenberg as the program's first coach.
Swimming will become the seventh and eighth sports sponsored by the athletic department and step one in the addition of sports at TU over the next four years. Von Hertsenberg joins the Night Hawks Athletic Department from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY where he served as the Interim Head Coach since March of 2011 after spending the two previous years as an assistant coach. During his collegiate years, Edward was a two year team captain at Cumberlands and was selected as an NAIA all American in 28 total events during his career. He was not only successful in the pool but was also a major competitor in the classroom, being named a Academic All American in six semesters by the College Swim Coaches Association.
