Men's Golf Ends season with 5th Place Finish at A.I.I. Tournament

Men's golf ended their season this afternoon with a fifth place finish at the Association of Independent Institutions Conference Tournament played the last two at the Victoria Country Club in Victoria, TX.
Night Hawks Golf in Fifth after Day One of A.I.I. Tournament

The Night Hawks golf team is in fifth after day one of the Association of Independent Institutions Conference Tournament played this afternoon at the Victoria Country Club in Victoria, TX.
TU shot a 311 in round one and ended the first 18 holes in a tie for third. In Round two the Night Hawks shot a 320, dropping them to fifth place. The Night Hawks will enter day two action twelve strokes out of fourth place and twenty four strokes out of first. Freshman Blake Hightower led all TU golfers with a 153 (75-78, +9). Hightower is currently tied for seventh, six strokes from the top spot. Freshman Andre Larsson was the only other Night Hawk to finish day one in the top 15, finishing in a tie for 14th after shooting a 157 (80-77, +13).
Play concludes tomorrow with Round three teeing off at approximately 8:30AM CST.
Coastal Georgia Tops Men's Golf

Coastal Georgia topped men's golf in a head to head match up this afternoon at the Jekyll Island Golf Club in Jekyll Island, GA.
TU shot a 297 (+9) in their final preparation before the A.I.I. Tournament. Freshman Andre Larsson led all Night Hawk golfers and finished par over the 18 holes and 3rd overall. Fellow freshman Sam Jackson shot a 73 (+1) and placed fifth.
With the regular season in the rearview mirrow men's golf will look to find their peak performance at 2011 A.I.I. Conference Tournament to be played April 25-27 at the Victoria Country Club in Victoria, TX.
Top 10 Finish for Jackson, TU 9th

Freshman Sam Jackson had a Top 10 finish and TU placed 9th of 11 teams this afternoon in the Bobcat Invitational, played the last two days at the Don Shula Golf Club in Miami Lakes, FL.
Jackson tied for 8th after firing a 222 (76/71/75) finishing the three rounds of action at 6 over. TU shot a 918 (308/301/309), four strokes from a tie for fifth. The Night Hawks did not have another golfer finish in the Top 25.
Men's golf will now set their sights towards preparing for the A.I.I. Conference Tournament to be played April 25-27 at the Victoria Country Club in Victoria, TX.
Night Hawks 6th at Lee Invitational

The Night Hawks shot a 612 (310 & 302) over two rounds of action and finished 6th of 10 teams at the Lee University Invitational, played the last two days at the Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, TN.
Senior Brian Herrell shot a 149 (76/73, +5) and finished tied for ninth overall. Freshman Sam Jackson placed 11th overall with a 150 (74/76, +6) and junior Matt Luckett finished a stroke behind in 12th with a 150 (77/74, +7).
Thomas will next travel to Miami Lakes, FL to compete in the St. Thomas University Invitational on Monday April 4th at the Don Shula's Hotel and Golf Club.
Cavaliers Take TU Winter Invitational

The Darton College Cavaliers won the 2011 TU Winter Invitational after firing a 296 in round two action, finishing with an overall score of 597 (301 & 296).
Webber International University finished five strokes behind the Cavaliers after shooting a 602 (302 & 300). Southeastern University shot a 611 (302 & 309) and finished in third. Taylor Welborn from Darton College led the field of 62 golfers by one stroke with a 144 (72 & 72). Alexander Carpenhall finished second with a 145 (72 & 73). Drew Matthews from Southeastern University rounded out the top three with a 147 (72 & 75).
TU finished eighth with a 620 (313 & 307), four strokes from a top five finish. Senior Brian Herrell led the Night Hawks with a 153 (77 & 76), tied for thirteenth overall. Junior Matt Luckett (78 & 77) and freshman Andre Larsson (78 & 77) finished in a six way tie for 19th with a 155.
Men's golf will return to the links on March 7th when they begin play in the Lee University Invitational at the Cleveland Golf Club in Cleveland, TN.
Darton Leads After Day One of TU Winter Invitational

Darton College shot a 301 in the First Round of the TU Winter Invitational, played today at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, GA. They lead Webber International University (302) by one stroke entering round two.
Four players share the overall lead. Drew Matthews (Southeastern University). Taylor Welborn (Darton College), Alexander Carpenhall (Webber International University), and Shad Tuten (Darton College) all shot a 72 and lead the field by two strokes. The host Night Hawks sit in 6th place after shooting a 313. Senior Brian Herrell tied for 12th overall, finishing the first round with a 77 (37-40). Junior Matt Luckett (39-39) and freshman Andre Larsson (40-38) each shot a 78 and are currently tied for 16th overall.
Play concludes tomorrow at the Kinderlou Country Club with a shotgun start at 9:30AM.
Luckett 3rd at UM Fall Invitational, TU 9th

Junior Matt Luckett finished 3rd in a field 80 but TU shot a 618 (321/207) overall, finishing 9th in field of 12 at the 2010 University of Mobile Rams Fall Invitational.
Luckett shot a 145 (73 & 72) overall, two strokes from the individual championship. The Night Hawks failed to place any other golfer in the top 20.
TU will begin their spring season on February 21, 2011 in the TU Winter Invitational to be played at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, GA.
Night Hawks 8th at SeeMore NAIA Intercollegiate

The Night Hawks shot a 949 (307/329/313) over three rounds of action and finished 8th of 9 teams at the SeeMore NAIA Intercollegiate hosted by Savannah College of Art & Design at the Wilmington Island Club in Savannah, GA.
Junior Matt Luckett was the only TU golfer to finish in the top 20 overall after shooting a 225 (68/79/78), +12, placing him in a tie for 18th. His 68 in the first round topped the field and tied him with another golfer for tournament low in all three rounds.
Thomas will hit the greens again on November 1 when they begin play in the University of Mobile Fall Classic at the Herron Lakes Golf Club.
Disappointing Start to Men's Golf Season

Men's Golf team finished a disappointing 6th place at The Darton CC Fall Invitational at River Pointe G.C. in Albany, GA.
The Night Hawks were led by Freshman Blake Hightower who fired rounds of 76-76 for a 152 total over 36 holes and finished tied for 8th place individually in a field of 44 players. Matt Luckett shot 75 in round one and Daniel DiFrancesco added a fine 76 on a tough River Pointe layout.
TU will be back in action on October 11, when they begin play at the 2010 SCAD Invitational. The two rounds of action will take place at the Wilmington Island CC in Savannah, GA.
