Julie Orlowski Named Thomas University Head Women's Soccer Coach

Thomas University has named Julie Orlowski the Night Hawks fourth Head Women’s Soccer Coach in school history, director of athletics Mike Lee announced on Thursday afternoon.
Orlowski joins TU after spending the last twelve seasons at the helm of the NCAA D1 Stetson University women’s soccer program. During her time as a Hatter, she recorded 126 wins and her teams reached the Atlantic Sun Tournament each year from 2003-10 and advanced to the A-Sun title match in 2006. She coached 28 all-conference performers, including 11 first team selections. In her twelve seasons she also helped tutor the league’s Defensive (twice), Offensive (twice) and Freshman (twice) Player of the Year.
Her teams at Stetson also excelled in the classroom, earning four NSCAA All-Academic selections, six CoSIDA Academic All-Region selections as well as public recognition from the NCAA for the program’s outstanding Academic Performance Rate. Coach Orlowski has also been heavily involved in the administrative side of the NCAA after serving on the NCAA National Committee from 2009-2013 and the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee from 2006-2013.
“We are excited to add Julie to our athletic department”, said Lee. “The future of our women’s soccer program is bright today. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge, on & off the field, and gives our department a seventh staff member with NCAA D1 experience.”
Prior to Stetson, Orlowski coached at the University of South Florida (assistant coach), Boise State University, University of North Florida and fellow Sun Conference foe St. Thomas University. Orlowski holds a United States Soccer Federation "B" License. She is a state coach for the Florida Youth Soccer Association and has served as an Olympic Development Program instructor.
Orlowski received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication from Florida International University, where she was a four year starter and team captain, and earned a Master of Science in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University in 1995.
Head Women's Soccer Coach Chris Davidovicz Resigns

Thomas University head women's soccer coach Chris Davidovicz resigned his post this morning to accept the same position at the University of West Georgia.
"We thank Chris for the two and a half years of hard work that he dedicated to the athletic department", said Athletic Director Mike Lee. "A national search is already in place for our next head coach. We are confident that we can attract many qualified candidates capable of leading this program to the top of the Sun Conference."
Davidovicz leaves TU with a record of 20-15-2 and two post season appearances in two seasons at the helm. He was promoted to Head Coach in January 2011 after serving the 2010 season as Assistant Head Coach for Men's and Women's Soccer.
Three Lady Night Hawks Named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes

Three Lady Night Hawks were named to the 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete list. Senior Reem Moussa was honored by the NAIA for the second time after being selected in 2011. Juniors Carina Spengler and Hjalmdis Vilhjalmsdottir both received their first nod.
A total of 492 women's soccer players across the country were recognized and the three Lady Night Hawks were a part of 26 Sun Conference women's soccer student athletes to be named. Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.

Lady Night Hawks Receive TSC Post Season Honors

The Lady Night Hawks soccer team received several Sun Conference post season honors on Friday afternoon.
Junior defender Hannah Claesson, junior midfielder Carina Spengler and sophomore forward Jodi Wright were all named to the All TSC Honorable Mention List. Claesson (3 goals, 4 assists, 10 points) and Spengler (3 goals, 5 assists, 11 points) are repeat all conference selections after receiving First Team nods in 2010 and 2011 when TU was a member of the Association of Independent Institutions. Wright finished the 2012 season tied for the team lead in Points (27), first in assists (7) and second in goals (10). The native of Mims, FL also finished in the TSC Top 10 in all three categories. Junior Kasey Cooper, sophomore Kayla Labbe, junior Lyndsay Moore, senior Reem Moussa, sophomore Breena Pullara, Spengler and junior Hjalmdis Vilhjalmsdottir were all named to the Academic All Conference Team. The selection of seven Lady Night Hawks was the second highest amongst TSC women's soccer teams.
Women's Soccer Falls in TSC Quarter Final

Women's Soccer (10-8-1) fell 2-1 to SCAD- Savannah (11-5-1) in a The Sun Conference Quarter Final match on Thursday evening in Savannah, GA.
SCAD ended TU's 2012 season in a fiercely battled contest. The Bees took the lead at the 33:33 mark of the game. TU battled in search of the game tying goal but were unable to equalize, SCAD took a two goal advantage in the 59th minute. Sophomore forward Jodi Wright made it a one goal game, scoring an unassisted goal with 12:25 left in the game. Thomas pressured the rest of the way but the clock ran out in the game and on the 2012 campaign.
The Lady Night Hawks finish the season with their second consecutive ten win season and fourth straight season with eight wins or more. Thomas will only graduate four seniors and will enter the 2013 season with optimism towards continued strides within the TSC.
