Claesson and Spengler Named NSCAA First Team ALL East Region

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) named sophomore Hannah Claesson and sophomore Carina Spengler to the First Team All East Region.
Claesson started all 18 games this season as a part of the Lady Night Hawks backline that posted 4 shutouts. The native of Katrineholm, Sweden also contributed on the offensive side of the ball, scoring one goal and recording three assist. Spengler led TU in goals and total points for the second straight year, finishing the season with seven goals and 15 points. The resident of Boeblingen, Germany has scored 14 goals in her first two seasons and collected 30 points.
Moussa Named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete

Junior Reem Moussa was named to the 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete list. The native of Abu-Sinan Village, Israel was recognized for her high academic standards as a student athlete for the Night Hawks during the 2011 campaign.
A total of 485 women's soccer players across the country were recognized and Moussa was one of only 9 from the Association of Independent Institutions to be named. Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.

A.I.I. Recognizes Six Lady Night Hawks

The Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) recognized six Lady Night Hawks for their performances during the 2011 season.
Sophomore defender Hannah Claesson (Katrineholm, Sweden) and sophomore midfielder Carina Spengler (Boeblingen, Germany) were named the All Conference First Team for the second consecutive year while sophomore midfielder Emma Hewett (Newcastle, England) was named for the first time in her career as a Lady Night Hawk. Senior goalkeeper Heather Collins, senior midfielder Nine Henriksson and defender Megan Jacobson were all selected to the Second Team. Spengler led Thomas in goals (7) and total points (15) for the second consecutive season and now has 14 goals in her first two seasons for the Green and White. Hewett finished the year tied for second in goals (5) and in third with points (11). Claesson, Collins and Jacobson anchored a backline that recorded four shutouts this past season. Collins had a 6-3-1 mark in the net while posting a 1.10 goals against average and recording 30 saves. Henriksson, in her only season as a Lady Night Hawk, recorded 2 goals and an assist (5 points) in 18 games. This marks the second consecutive season that six Lady Night Hawks receive post season recognition and the most First team honorees since 2003.
