PrintHigh School/College Accel Program
The Accel Program is a great way to jump start your college education before you leave high school. Through the Accel program high school juniors and seniors take college-credit classes which are paid for by Georgia’s lottery. We partner with local secondary schools to offer an opportunity for local high school students to earn advance college credit, including an Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies.
Accel Program Guidelines:
- A high school student must be classified as an 11th or 12th grader to participate.
- Eligible high school courses include only core-curriculum courses of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Foreign Language that can be used to satisfy the core-curriculum high school graduation requirements.
- All hours paid for by Accel Program will be included in the 127 semester or 190 quarter-hour HOPE credit hour cap. College degree-level credit hours that students earned while in high school prior to Fall 2004 will not count towards the cap.
- The Accel Program award for private colleges and universities (such as Thomas University) will be prorated based on an award of $3,000 per academic year. The rate per credit hour is $125 per semester hour or $84 per quarter hour.
