What our students are saying about us...class of 2011

"I am officially a kindergarten teacher at Quitman Elementary School!!!!  The previous kindergarten teacher retired on January 31st due to health problems, and I started working as the long term substitute the following day.  After two weeks of working as the substitute, the board held their scheduled meeting on February 17th and approved me as the new kindergarten teacher.  I am so excited, but at the same time extremely concerned for my students.  Ten out of fourteen students are below grade level.  It breaks my heart to see how far behind they are, but thanks to everything I have learned from my professors at Thomas University, I have confidence that I can help bring many of them up to where they need to be.  They are a wonderful group of students, and I am so proud of the accomplishments they have made in just two weeks.  I will continue to hold high expectations for them, and use the strategies that I have learned from each of you. You are amazing teachers, and I thank you for your hard work and dedication.  I have truly learned from the best! Now it is my time to shine."  Julie Newell   Class of 2011
