Welcome to the Division of Education

Welcome to the Division of Education at Thomas University (TU)!  I am delighted that you are interested in pursuing your education at TU.  Currently the Division of Education offers Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degree programs in Early Childhood Education, Middle Grades Education (mathematics, language arts, social studies, and science), Secondary Grades Education (mathematics and English), and a Post-baccalaureate Certification program in Middle Grades and Secondary Education.

In the past five years over ninety percent of our initial certification graduates in these programs have obtained teaching positions!

All our programs feature small class sizes, frequent one-on-one interactions with faculty, and advisors who provide academic and personal support. One the greatest strengths of the Division of Education is the faculty who are experienced K-12 educators themselves and are deeply committed to your intellectual growth and development.   You will be challenged and nurtured by them; they will help you access heights that you never imagined were possible for you to reach!

The mission of the Education Division is to provide you with high-quality undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs that result in your personal and professional transformation.   Our programs combine classroom and field-based experiences to promote your acquisition of essential knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to ensure that you will be a highly successfully teacher. As a teacher candidate in one of our initial certification programs you will be provided developmentally sequenced experiences in local K-12 classrooms where you get to co-teach with some of the best teachers in Georgia! As a member of the graduate program you will be given opportunities to apply new concepts directly with your students, making clear connections between your educational coursework and your day-to-day life as a K-12 teacher.

I invite you to come to the campus to meet the faculty and learn more about our programs. You can also click on the degree program links at the left for additional information.  Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Dr. Susan Lynn Professor and Chair, Division of Education
