The goal of the Business Division is to provide a high quality education through close interaction between students, faculty, and the business community.

A business degree can be the starting point of a career in many fields. Few profit or nonprofit organizations can operate successfully without trained administrators. Today's business leaders must be effective decision makers with business skills and insight. Managing people — gaining support and cooperation — requires talent and knowledge of organization and motivation theories.

Effective use of funds and other resources requires creativity and a foundation in accounting and financial methods. Successful marketing of products, people and yourself requires imagination and the understanding of research methods, human characteristics and attitudes.

This degree will prepare you for a career in today's fast-moving business environment. As part of your education, you will work through many of the ethical challenges now confronting business.

You will be prepared to make and stand behind difficult decisions. You will have opportunities to gain the hands-on experience sought by many employers. You could start your own small business, work for a large firm, or join a multinational corporation. You might decide to pursue a graduate degree or go to law school.

Enrollment in upper division business courses and the Bachelor of Science degree program is restricted to students who have been formally accepted into the baccalaureate program. To be accepted into the baccalaureate program, students must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA or better and have completed a minimum of 60 hours to include BUS 200, BUS 201, BUS 210, BUS 211, ENG 101, ENG 102, and MTH 140 and STA 250.

The course of study for students who are formally accepted into the baccalaureate program will be predicated on the program of study as outlined in the university catalog and/or catalogue addendum that is in effect at the time of their acceptance.
