The Division of Education at Thomas University partners with more than 12 public school districts across Southwest Georgia through the TU Clinical Teacher Program to place teacher candidates with highly qualified mentor teachers.
The Teacher Education Programs at Thomas University are designed to facilitate the teacher candidate’s professional growth through a series of carefully sequenced opportunities embedded in the division's methods and content courses. The experiences are developmental in nature and include observations, mentoring, tutoring, and assisting the mentor teacher. Field experience expectations increase as the teacher candidate progresses through the education program. Field experiences offer the teacher candidate the opportunity to practice in a PK-12 classroom the theory, knowledge, methods, and strategies learned in the division’s coursework.
