Master of Education

The Thomas University Division of Education offers five Master of Education degrees for certified teachers designed to enhance the role of the teacher as a leader in the school community:

  • Master of Education in Early Childhood Education
  • Master of Education in Middle Grades Language Arts
  • Master of Education in Middle Grades Mathematics
  • Master of Education in Secondary English
  • Master of Education in Secondary Mathematics

The purpose of the Master of Education is to assist teachers in becoming leaders and mentors who are critical thinkers and reflective decision-makers in their schools.  Strong content and pedagogical skills will be developed that effect change in teaching and facilitate learning in students.  Coursework will be undertaken in four areas: Teacher Leaders and Mentors, Research, Technology, and Professional Concentration.

If you are not yet a certified teacher but hold an undergraduate degree in another field and are seeking initial certification in middle grades or secondary education, you may want to consider one of the Division of Education’s Post-Baccalaureate programs.

"Experiences are defined as life changing, and at TU the graduate program has improved the quality of my educational accomplishments while allowing me to grow as an educator and a person.  It's awesome to know that who you are as a professional is defined by the people who have poured their knowledge and time into you by challenging you to reach your full potential. "

-R.C. Tucker, Jr., Class of 2011

"Thomas University allowed me to obtain my Graduate degree while still teaching in my classroom. The small class sizes gave me a closer relationship with my teachers, allowing me to have any questions or problems answered immediately. TU was the perfect place for my Graduate studies."

-Stacie David (Dunn), Class of 2011
